€1 million secured for two Astros up in Castleview.

A huge boost for both The AUL and Castleview.

You would hope all things going well they will be in action for this time next year.

Absolutely brilliant for Castleview. The AUL will be gone within 3 years and Castleview will have 2 gorgeous Astros. Nice memorial to the AUL.

Id imagine they would, charging cheaper than mayfield and others would generate money to pay the bills

But differences Rossum is when teams pay mayfield and others that’s their choice to go to All weathers not to lose home advantage now you’ll have Aul sending teams up their to play and crippling them with price Castleview be charging ffs you can’t even go up there and watch a 3rd division game and they have bucket on the gate haha

They would prob have a price cap for aul teams so games don’t get called off

    Munster region draw:

    Oscar Traynor Trophy Group A
    Limerick Desmond League
    Clare District League
    Kerry District League
    Limerick District league

    Oscar Traynor Trophy Group B
    Munster Senior League
    Cork Business League
    Waterford & District Junior League

Best decision the Aul has made was to not put a team in.

Many moons ago when I was involved with the Oscar with Aul every player on panel was a very good footballers in his own right the squad was very strong looking at leagues now I can honestly say you’d struggle to find 20 very good players

I don't agree with you very often but ill have to agree with you on this point, the standard and quality of player's isn't the best I'd say you will be lucky to pick 10 player's out and after that you are really scraping the barrel

Sure with that mentality what is the point in teams entering anything?

Grattan and Coachford won't get near FAI or MJC, should they not enter?

Springfield battered every week, should they stop?

Chance to compete with other Cork leagues and other opposition should have been taken. Only one team can win anything.

There is potential in AUL to have had a good squad this year to compete for popints v CBL & MSL and take on the challenge of Waterford. Get out of group then would have kept attention and feel good factor going.

Goodman fish play teams in cork enter them competitions to get a day out not in tensions of winning um the point I’m making is to enter Oscar the manager of team should at least have 20 plus strong players in squad lookin across the Aul you might get 4/5 from coachford 1 from Grattan Bulman personally for me and Iv being here a long long time you’d struggle after that it’s only my opinion the rest of players or bang average

The standard of football has changed at every level not just AUL. Some fellas playing senior these days that wouldn’t have got a look in at junior a few years ago. Young fellas not playing football on the streets anymore with their pals. It’s only worse it’s gonna get. Fellas will be fitter and stronger maybe but actual ballers will be a dying breed.

    Completely agree with you here, I've been saying for years that the standards of each league are dropping off so far;

LOI is at the standard Senior League was 20 years ago.
Senior League is at the standard the AUL was 20 years ago.
AUL is at the standard the business league was 5 years ago.
The business league is the equivalent of the old night owls leagues. Well run with some fantastic players along with some awful players.

It's crazy considering the FAI put "new pathways" in place to ensure the survival of grassroots football. But young fellas these days care more about the gym and social media than playing ball. When I was young many moons ago I had a football in my hand from morning to night during the summer. Now you can walk past the Fairfield, Pophams, The Glen Park, Kilmore Road on a fine Summers Day and there's not a group of lads playing ball anywhere. It's sad to see such a decline in street football. The best players in the world developed on the streets.

You hit the nail on the head right there . Its hard enough for clubs to get a team out training twice a week theses days without throwing in extra training for the AUL team . I dont think the interest is there from players to play in it so for once I am going to agree with the AUL on not entering a team in the Oscar Traynor

Some great points to be fair.
The only bit I would disagree with is comparing the standard of the aul now to the business league 5years ago.
Definitely well run but bar 1 very good team in the cow the business league was rubbish then and its even worse now.

Is this all said because the cork aul failed to even try out a Oscar traynor team...my opinion off course there's a good enough team out off castleview grattan coachford..Knocka village and there's surly few more teams like watergrasshill the like Desmond ffs there's..no harm in trying and having some interest cork aul that's y it's gone to the dogs because it's thrown to the dogs the last few years ...there surely interest when the like luke casey comes back and playing in aul is he not good enough for Oscar traynor lads it utter laziness is what it is
