Live, sure. Just watch the highlights.

Anand has to be favourite this time, I'd have thought. Leko and Topalov to give him a run for his money.

    EDIT:
The Week in Chess is the best news source going:
    http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/twic.html#news375
Round 1 is over: Topalov beat Leko and Anand got off to a good start too, beating Judith Polgar.

Think of it like grid references. You can record an entire game like that. Faster than downloading football highlights anyway. Yes, chess. Not one of these anti-intellectual twits are you?

No not at all, each to their own as they say. Was only teasing. I can play it but haven't done so since school. Oh and playing chess doesn't automatically make you an intellectual

No, but supporting UCD seems to make them think they are

There's an IQ test before you're let into Belfield you know.

I was referring to the deplorable, widespread, moronic practice of mocking those smarter than you, or who you perceive to be smarter than you, or who do something "brainy" or "nerdish", or "intellectual" as a hobby of for a living.

You don't know me, or what I do, or anything about me beyond that I support UCD, so feic off with your sarcasm.

No, unfortunately none good enough. Last time there was an Irishman in the World Championships was in the 1820s!

Not true. You joined foot.ie in February 2003 and I'm presuming your name is John and you were born in 1983, correct me if I'm wrong though

    Why would I?

In case anyone is interested, round two saw draws all around, most notably a 97 move struggle between the top seeds, Topalov and Anand.

As a follow up to my answer to whether anyone in the tournament is Irish, theose of you inclined to seize on really tenuous links might like this - Alexander Morozevich used to be trained by Ireland's best player (who's actually Russian if you want to be pedantic). There's also an Englishman, Michael Adams, who you can boo and hiss at your leisure.
