    Wexford FC v Longford

Exhilarating end to lively game in Ferrycarrig this afternoon with four goals in the final ten minutes of normal time. As Wexford got the final two of them, they’ll probably be happy enough with the point. Wexford made a change in goal with Alex Moody starting and began with Alex, Cian, Ethan, Mikie, Kian, Thomas, Aaron, Mark, Kaylem, Sean and Reece. First half was even enough but without resulting in a goal. Longford had a chance very early on when Jordan Adeyemo met a cross from the right but it was blocked for a corner for Longford. First decent effort on goal by Wexford came on 14 minutes when Kian Corbally had a shot on the turn but it wasn’t kept on target. Longford’s Kyle O’Connor then did well down Longford’s left before Alex Moody made a good catch to deal with a shot by Longford’s Karl Chambers. Kaylem Harnett then forced Jack Brady in the Longford goal to stretch to keep out his effort on goal. After Campbell had a free header which resulted in catching practice for Moody, game entered into a lull until halftime. 0-0 at halftime.

Second half continued to be both lively and even, although Wexford will feel that they should have taken the lead around the half-hour mark. Wexford’s Kian Corbally had a shot deflected just wide of the Longford post for a corner and then Boudiaf forced Alex Moody into an acrobatic save to keep the game scoreless. Wexford then created a number of chances as Dobbsy had a volley well over, Cian O’Malley had a header from a Wexford corner just over the bar and Thomas Oluwa had a header just wide of the Longford post and a placed effort also wide of the same post. On 81 minutes, Jordan Adeyemo found space down Longford’s left and shot with his left which went off Wexford’s far post and in to put Longford ahead. Thomas Oluwa then had another one-on-one with Brady but his shot was saved by Brady with his legs. Would like to see Thomas trying to hit the top half of the net with these chances. Within a couple of minutes, the ball fell to Adeyemo in the Wexford area and his shot at the second attempt gave Moody no chance and it was 2-0 to Longford. Wexford looked dead and buried but got a lifeline when a long throw by Cian O’Malley finished up at Longford’s far post where Aaron Robinson had a simple tap-in for 2-1 to Longford. As the game entered injury-time, Wexford won another long throw and this time the ball fell to Cian Curtis close in whose smart volley into the ground gave Brady in the Longford goal no chance. 2-2 at fulltime with crowd believed to be 547.
