Athlone dump Waterford out with a 120th minute winner.
Pike utterly outclassed in the Markets Field by a Treaty side that are in the lower half of an appalling first division.

Great set of results for sides looking to make Europe via the league. Waterford and Galway gone.
Some result for Athlone and a bit of a shudder for whoever ends up in 9th place,Athlone are comfortably the second best team in the First division and should make the playoff final….
I forgot to say but Waterford had a clear winner not given in stoppage time of normal time ,ball looked about 2 yards over the line….

Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
Well, fairly brutal performance from City against City tonight. I think it's obvious which one I'm talking about.
Don't know how we got into half time at 0-0. Coll keeping us in it there, and Maher had a great save. Thought Maguire actually looked good, but we did give him far too much space.
In the second half, after about the 60 minute mark, we started to play more like how we should. In the end, it was a set piece that got us the goal. We did look threatening from corners, but that was about it.
Look, suppose it doesn't matter, but feels like we got away with one tonight.
I think Cork, maybe with a couple of additions, will be grand for next year. It was hard to tell which side was the PD one.
Certainly, by the looks of it. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/BTLX9pvQbF4xf8jM/
In fairness to the linesman, it would be a hard one to see with all the bodies. Shocker all the same.

To update my stat from earlier in the thread:
it's now one win (Maynooth v Cobh in 2021) , one draws (Kilbarrack v Treaty in the previous round) and 52 defeats for non-league teams against LOI opponents, in the past 6 seasons

Handy victory for Treaty over Pike Rovers which is sure to quieten a few junior heads. Game was over after 40 seconds and now Treaty have another cup quarter final to look forward to.
Enda Curran grabbing his 100th Senior goal in all competitions, think he's still seven off of 100 national goals if that makes sense.
The league sides have scored ten goals for every one by the beleaguered non-leaguers -
Aggregate score is 204 - 20,
.or an average per game of 3.8 - 0.37
Waterford totally screwed by the officials it seems. They are beyond hopeless the lot of them.

Shocking refereeing at the RSC last night. Daragh Leahy was sent off for nothing. The ref gave him a red for a minor tussle waiting for a corner which baffled everyone. Waterford scored a penalty which looked a bit soft to me a few minutes later. Athlone equalise with 10 or so minutes to go. Then in the final seconds the ref and his assistants don't spot the ball going at least a foot over the line after a corner which would have won it for Waterford. Amond gets his 2nd and then had one cleared from off or over the line. Haven't seen that one yet but Amond was sure it crossed line. Athlone got 2 late goals to win it then.
I have compiled myself this below table of LOI vs Non-League stats for a couple of years now because in recent years it was starting to become so evident the gap growing between the teams, I update it every season so 2024 now included. Results include results after AET but do not include penalty shootout outcomes
3 points for a non-league win, 1 point for a non-league draw etc. with averages for PPG (Points per Game) and GDPG (Goal Difference per Game), all numbers progressively getting worse for the non-league teams with that Maynooth win over Cobh in 2021 standing out as a major outlier
In some defence of the non-league teams the shift of the first round involving LOI teams back in 2017 from May to August and then the next shift in 2021 from August to July has not helped their competitiveness in these fixtures when they are in pre-season

The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
Don't what it says about the state of the Premier Division is that Derry team is contending for a Championship.
City were by far the better side and will count last night as a missed opportunity.
Yeah man, they call gambling a disease, but it's the only disease where you can win a bunch of money.
