Now that we know the finalists, what would Drogheda fans expect in terms of traveling support? Imagine a bit of hyoe over the next few weeks in the town will help boost the attendance.
"oh my, that was some beer we had last night, I think I feel like getting sick" Effin Eddie
I'd be surprised if the crowd is much higher than 20k total.
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
Derry could be going for a double which will create a huge interest in Derry, thats what will push an attendance upwards to the 30k figure!
It will also depend on the FAI and how they operate and promote the ticket sales. They should offer good incentives and reasonable prices which can also help persuade your regular LOI neutral fan, especially from Dublin to go along!
We took 23k last time, but doubt we'll have that many this year. If we're going for a double, maybe it's a different story.
I see we've been drawn as the away team, same as every final in the new Lansdowne. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing for a TV perspective.
Above 30,000 be good attendance?
I live beside Drogheda on the Meath coast and I was in the town on Saturday and you would not know it was cup semi final weekend at all. If there was any hype I missed it on West St or around the quays.
Hope there’s a good crowd and it’s a good game. Disappointing to hear there wasn’t much hype in Drogheda for the semi. Hopefully there will be a bit more interest now that’s it’s the final. It’s a great day out, jealous to be missing out this year, but I suppose Pats have been spoiled with being in two out of the last three (and winning both) Shame that one of our worst performances of the season came in the cup up in Derry. Our great run of form seems to have come too late to actually reap any rewards.Maybe well get Europe, will be a very good finish to the season if we can.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.
Drogheda are a Premier Division club. While they took delight in knocking out Dundalk in the Second Round, beating a non league opponent and a First Division opponent wasn't doing a whole lot for raising hype before the semi-final.
While I think we'll need the hype machine in over drive to shift tickets for the final, but I'm not sure what was needed for the semi? It sold out in minutes after going on general sale.
I reckon some didn't want to be taking the eye off the ball from the League too early either.
Think we are looking at a 20-25k attendance.
