To be fair you wouldn’t be the first club to claim an extra title that season for a league they didn’t win on the field

If both Bohs and Drogheda win I would say yes they will attract a very large crowd. Probably close to last year. Any other fixture will attract less

Certainly best combination for a larger crowd. We'd 23k odd, I think, in 2022, but can't see it being that big again if it were to occur this year.

All in all, a handy enough win last Friday. We were fairly in control for the whole game. Surprised, as our games with Shels this year have been quite even.
McMullan got MOTM, but Adam O'Reilly was a powerhouse, and helped create both goals. Duffy bang on form too, which was great to see.
Unfortunate draw afterwards, but we do have a great record in Dalymount.

Hard to see there not being a drop off now tbh

Would they not play both semi-finals in Tallaght? It would allow neutrals and casual fans of both clubs to attend. Play Saturday/Sunday or Friday/Saturday, prices in Dublin hotels must be coming down a bit, by October surely.
I understand it is unfair with the travel for Derry, but the game will be 'finished on the day'. If it is too late this year, lets do it from now on. We need to promote the league of Ireland and the first step is to allow all who want to go to a game go to attractive matches like cup semi-finals. Being a niche product is fine, but lets try to expand a bit.

Why would Derry have to travel to Dublin to face Bohs?
If anything that game would be in Longford or Sligo if it was to be neutral venue

It's only Cork City who ruin pitches.

I wouldn't be against trialling neutral venues for semi-finals, though I'm not convinced it would improve attendances. It might add to the sense of occasion if both teams and fans have to travel.
It would need to be an equidistant venue though.

Mostly because it's due to be in Dalymount Park.

I think the probelm nowadays is a venue with suitable capacity (and which wouldn't look rubbish on TV, as a minor aside).

Where except Tallaght would work as a neutral venue and hold more than c.4,000 once segregation is factored in? Then there would be additional cost from having to pay an uninvolved party/

Until central places ike Athlone or Longford get better staduia, I can't see how we can have neutral semis outside of Dublin/Tallaght.

Why do semi finals have to be played at a neutral venue? Why not play it over 2 legs like the Copa del Rey if we really want to change things.

An alternative option is that LoI clubs play on a home and away basis in the cup, e.g. Kerry were home to Bohs this year, Bohs would then have home advantage the next time they are drawn against each other in the cup before the final.

And to think, people think we have problems with one sided games in the early rounds of the cup!

Longford would be almost suitable if they had proper media facilities. Certainly has the capacity required, just lacks TV facilities and probably more access/exits needed too for a major segregated crowd.

Serious lack of cover from the elements though.

There is a separate away entrance, it's just never used. Lack of cover would be the issue, RTE have constructed scaffolding when broadcasting there in the past.

Such a shame Bohs are so limited with capacity. You’d imagine they could easily sell 6/7K tickets for a cup semi if they had the seats…
