There's no doubt it takes money AND for that money to be properly applied etc. But as Nesta says, even if non-league clubs in ROI had the money, and there was some sort of pathway, they may still not want to try to bridge the gap.
Meanwhile, though I don't know about Rathfriland, Ballymacash have been very successful in raising money to develop great facilities, while their whole set-up includes reserves, youth and womens sections etc. I don't know how much further they can go, or how long it would last. But there's no lack of ambition and they're capitalising on the potential of a footballing area in a way which eg Distillery have failed to do.

Yup crossed my mind when Rovers appealed the appeal. it was pretty bad that Dundalk didnt insist on just playing the 1/4 final after requesting the game be called off, good faith and all that, Is it double standard to think Rovers should just move on considering? Wasnt the FAI Cup but still.
Had to check that Ballymacash wasnt loaded quip along the lines of $$hels from years back and considering the discussion.

How did Bohs fans get a link for tickets to the cup game with UCD and tickets don’t even seem to be available online to home supporters. Definitely one of the stranger ticketing arrangements I’ve seen.
Athlone can expect a big away following from Drogheda for their home FAI Cup Quarter-Final fixture. Drogheda have taken up their full allocation of around 500 tickets!
Well done to the Drogheda Club.![]()
In true greatest league in the world fashion, Dawson Devoy is suspended for Bohs cup game this weekend for accumulated yellows

Paaatrick's Agletic
I thought you needed five yellow cards to get a suspension? Or maybe I'm wrong. Doesn't feel like he's got that many since returning though.

Bohs are appealing it
Well this is a sobering bit of prep for the playoff!
As is Athlone getting hammered by Drogheda
Super first half performance from Wexford tonight lead to a very comfortable win. Treaty were dreadful and to make matters worse had 4 players who had to be replaced due to injuries. Still long odds that Wexford can get to the final but a home draw in the Semifinals would give them some sort of chance.
Ross Tierney and Dawson Devoy have transformed us a team. Tierney especially was phenomenal last night and has been for a few weeks now.
Personally don't think Devoy had much influence last night. That could be because he was suspended though so I'll give him a pass.
I think Tierney hitting a bit of goal scoring form could be huge for us. Far too often we are trying to take 3,4 even 5 touches in the box before shooting. We need someone to lead the line and shoot as a first option. If that's Tierney fantastic. My only gripe with Devoy is everyone else on the team seems to want to give every pass to him. We can and should bypass him sometimes because he will be watched closely by other teams by default. If they have a player following him that's creating space somewhere else and we need to capitalize on that. Not Devoys fault obviously but still something that bothers me.
