Unless the FAI had to schedule all the last 16 ties by a specific date, it's more likely they've already decided not to take any further action on the case.
The second leg of the UEFA Europa League Third qualifying round is Thursday 15 August. Kerry usually play on Friday night. Kerry would have been expected to play Bohemians on Friday 16 August. The Bohemians match is scheduled for Sunday 18 August. 18 August would suit Shamrock Rovers after European football on 15 August. Is there a link?

If they signed off on him playing and they kick Bohs out, unless they said “you can if you think he is eligible to,play, but it’s on you” then it looks a fairly forward case Bohs could take against them.
no chance any action is being taken!
Yeah, I'd be of the opinion that, as soap-opera-y as it may appear,Rovers are not interested in having a beef with boez, but are actually seeking to highlight the utter ineptitude of the FAIlures.
It's a clubs responsibility to make sure a player is eligible not the Fai's. If the fai said its OK and it turns out to be wrong its on the club. I still think it will be like appealing against red cards I.e pointless but let's see.
Even if the FAI gave the go ahead it means nothing. Its always on the club
With the onus on the club to confirm eligibility, who much further can a club go than contact their FA to check. If the answer was player cleared to play then the club can do no more. If there is nothing in the rules for this sepcific situation and no precedence then they easiest path to a solution is mark iit off, close the loophole, and carry on as you were. To do anything else makes it a lot more complicted, over turn the result and the FAI are open to a suit as could replaying the match. It would be tough for rovers to build a case in te absence of clear rules and CAS type decisions would be to diiss and fix the rule book going forward. Its certainly some added interest in the cup after your own side are no longer involved. The fair thing to do is to replay the game, Bohs dont want to risk their place, Rovers will be desperate to do anything to improve their chances for European qualifiction with a league slot at risk. Been a while since we've had this kind of drama.
Id wager the reason no decision has been made is that the FAI are looking to pay Rovers a settlement and basically end the case there. In the few days before the next round is due to be played there will be a token statement from the FAI and Rovers will have a few extra euro in the transfer kitty next year.
How did the issue come to Rovers attention? Is it usual for a club to trawl through a players history and/or registrations. Delaney gave Waterford a free peak at all Dundalk player registrations after a playoff loss.
Not a chance we would take 30 pieces of silver off the FAI.
IF the rules havent been applied properly then its a 3 nil forfeit.
From LOI Central podcast today Dan McD saying some sources in FAI now saying they might have messed up compared to the original "nothing to see here comments"
It seems like Rovers have an argueable case but i still think the FAI will whitwash it.
Ive said it already i dont care about the cup but putting one over on Bohs like this would be funny.
I'm just basing it off any time a large company or governing body makes an error. That's the basic playbook. They try to keep it out of the courts so as little light is shined on it as possible and promise to do better next time or update the regulations while changing very little if anything at all.
There is a similar enough precedent to this with Sean Hargan back in 2006. He picked up four yellows, and was due to be suspended after the disciplinary committee meeting.
However, IIRC, for some reason, the committee decided on this a week earlier than usual, so didn't email (or fax, depending on the story) the club straight away, instead intending to leave it to the next week. The FAI then forgot to send the email the following week, Derry forgot about the suspension, and he played three games before everyone copped on, then he served his suspension.
Shels, or Ollie Byrne more precisely, lost the plot over this. In the end nothing happened, so the FAI took the blame for not sending the email.
This is the same season that Shels attempted (and succeeded?) to have Bohs deducted points over Jason McGuiness playing when suspended too.

More on that here, including Ollie Byrne complaining that Dublin City's results were expunged from the table, giving Derry an advantage. Remember that saga? All the while knowing the Revenue Commissioners were closing in with their winding up order. Heady days.

Not a chance the FAI admit anything. Not sure what your options would be beyond that?
Wonder when the appeal is being heard.
Surprised Dan Mc doesnt have it
