What a win, think Eileen Gleeson really needed it as well, great momentum to bring in to the playoff. Finally a good use for Cork
Excellent victory against France's squad players. Really great to see that, in the space of a decade, the women's team have gone from playing in front crowds in the hundreds, to crowds in the thousands, to crowds in the tens of thousands - and hopefully two big home games to come this year - I hope the FAI will use the extra revenue from these attendances and appearances at major championships to grow the women's game so that in another decade, we will have a team that can consistently match the top nations.
Ireland get Georgia in the playoff draw.
Winner plays winner of Wales and Slovakia. We've recently beaten Slovakia 1-0 and drawn 1-1 in tight games that Ireland largely dominated. Also lost 2-0 to Wales in a friendly.
A very promising draw, I watched that Wales game and it was a bit of an aberration, somewhat rotated squad, tried to play a high press and were a bit all over the place, would hope to be in a much stronger position and more organized in the playoffs.
We'll steamroll Georgia. Should be beating either of the other two as well, though those will be tighter games.
Play off first round V Georgia confirmed for Tallaght, and second round confirmed for Aviva stadium, should we progress

Not a surprise, but the home leg against Georgia will be a complete non event in terms of the competitiveness of the tie. The difference in standard between this and the League A matches they were playing earlier in the campaign is almost unbelievable.
And it was only 0-3 in the away leg when I posted that. Would be as well to do our bit for climate change and just call the second leg off at this point.
Interesting that every outfield player named in the starting XI against Georgia tonight has scored at least one goal for the national team

Complete mismatch in quality. 2-0 at HT and it should be at least 4 with the chances missed.
Much like watching rovers play Larne last week it's good to know that there are still some countries and leagues that are behind us still.
They should clear the bench and give as many minutes as possible to as many players as possible for the second half.
There was a seismic shock (in football terms) that play off opponents Wales struggled against Slovakia over both legs. I watched their home and away performances against Iceland in the Nations League 2023, and they really put it up to Iceland in both games, overly physical though as in they run around a lot putting pressure on the ball, compensating for technical shortcomings.
Still they should have beaten Slovakia with some degree of ease in order to be regarded as serious opponents in the play offs.
I'll go for an away draw followed by an emphatic home win.
Scrappy game, but decent result. Hopefully home advantage will take us through.
It's theirs to lose now really. Should be seeing it through from this position at home.
