Windows 98 doesn't support flash USB drives fullstop. You need additional drivers for all of them, and most USB hardware using that OS.
Just bought a new Dell Dimension and it arrived yesterday. Started to transfer files from my old PC using their newest 256Mb memory stick.
Guess what? My Windows 98 OS does not support the driver.
Assuming this would be a simple matter of downloading the driver, I went on to http://www.usbdrivetools.com/win98.asp and downloaded the indicated driver. Unzipped it, and nada.
Anybody know where I can download the necessary software, or am I chasing shadows?

There are multiple versions of Win98, the earliest of which were released without USB support.Originally Posted by ThatGuy

Have Boot Disk, will travel
As an alternative, you can buy a connector lead for about €10 and windows xp guides you how to transfer all the data across. Takes all day though.
