I get why they can't give any more seats to away fans, there literally aren't any non-ST ones available these days it seems.
But I don't understand why the club couldn't allocate a side terrace to away fans, which would bring it over 250. The view would be crap and it's out in the open, but still.

Not sure how long construction is going to take, but June would be ambitious. Construction was meant to start in November and be complete by March. Delayed due to sewerage issues outside the ground.
FAI & Pulse wouldn't allow away fans on the terrace due to safety concerns. Was speaking to Bert last night. Seems Derry tried but just wasn't to be

And, TBF, the Kerryman was making exactly the same points in the season preview today, that now that there have been proper pre-season preparations, along with reinforcement of the squad, every game should be judged on its own merits, so if it's a narrow defeat, but the performance is on a par with the Cobh match, there'll be no shame in that, but no-one, including the players themselves, wants to see a repeat of the Galway and Waterford hidings from last year.

Galway beat Athlone 6-0, Finn Harps 6-0 and Bray 6-0. Waterford beat Treaty 7-0 and Finn Harps 7-1. Kerry won't be alone in wanting avoid a repeat of some terrible hidings.
Kerry steadied the ship defensively somewhat after a bad loss to Waterford on the June Bank Holiday Monday. Kerry went on a frustrating run of losing 6 games by just the 1 goal. After a 3 goal loss to Waterford then, Cobh and Wexford then were the two games where 2 goals leads were thrown away.
A frustrating part of last season was not going on a run of positive results. If Kerry can cut out the concession of sloppy goals, they will stand a reasonable chance. Opponents were being allowed cheaply back into games and even worse, were being allowed to cheaply take all 3 points as well.

I suppose clubs could consign the away support to a crumbling terrace with no cover and a restricted view of the playing area.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Hey...the terrace in Finn Park isn't crumbling. It might be one of the only things in the ground not crumbling, but the terraces are just fine.

Speak for yourself!! Though at times we are nothing more big kids especially when the ref goes against and people spit the dummy and throw toys out of the pram!

Ooh... Christmas eve analogy is nice, but for the fact that this year we don't know if santa will be serving us a present of a big bag of sh**e on Christmas morning, or indeed this coming season.

    Predictions - PD

Derry City v Drogheda United - HW, not sure on score.
Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk - 2-0, or the classic betting one of -1 goals,(to win by at least 2) ***
    Bohemians v Sligo 1-0
Galway United v St Pats 1-2
    Waterford v Shelbourne 1-1

**Dundalk have 11 new joins and 4 could start tonight, have no idea how they will perform, could be ok, v good or awful, but it should be a fairly comfortable home win, would imagine it will take our lads at least a month to settle in, hopefully can pick up some points and the odd win during that period, as a bad start in this year of all seasons could be damning for any club. Rovers missing 4 I think, it won't matter as they have a settled team and pre season was all about fitness for them v shape / bedding in for our boys.

#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

We need a decent performance tonight after last week. I’d love to win it but a draw would suffice and move on to the Bohs game next week. It should be a great atmosphere.

Jack Kavanagh evidently injured, as he's missing from the matchday squad tonight - somewhat of a blow, as he's been excellent since signing.

Treaty playing in Blue is a welcome sight. Looks a good turnout at the Markets Field, so we're definitely about to lose.
