Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
Update: According to Adam Scully at therealefl.co.uk, Blackburn wanted to pay the transfer fee in instalments, but Crewe Alexandra want all the money in time to allow them to bolster their own squad in this window. A similar instalments plan by Preston NE has likewise been rejected, and because of Financial Fair Play issues Preston would have to sell somebody to buy O'Riordan. So he may end up at Blackpool, who have also been interested in him.
O'Riordan (20) leaves Crewe Alexandra for Blackburn, on a 4.5 year deal. (BBC Football, 25 Jan).

A decent window for Irish players overall I think. No big money moves but plenty of the younger lads getting moves that will hopefully see them get more game time. A shame that Zak Gilsenan doesn't seem to have gotten a loan, and also Travers likely stuck on the bench at Bournemouth until the summer.
That's probably the most disappointing one of this window - 59 goals in 103 appearances for Middlesbrough's underage teams in his time there - 12 in 13 this season - you'd think he'd get something better than a permanent move to a lower-half League Two team. Curiously, he only has a handful of U17 appearances for us - I thought he would have been more involved.
Phenomenal amount of players on that list! Encouraging to see how many young players are willing to gain experience down the divisions and the increased interest in Italy, as well as the LoI generally. Must be a hell of a number of Irish players in the football pyramid now - seems more bouyant than ever. Great to see O’Neill, Kavanagh, Grehan and Vaughan seeking game time - always remember McCarthy saying you don’t become a player until 200 appearances. Interesting moves for Idah, Obafemi and Johnston too. Going to be a head wreck keeping tabs on players.
