we also had a big northern striker and a flying local right winger in 94
Saturday night is up there with the most memorable games played in the showgrounds,Before the match we were putting together the omens fro out previous cup triumphs in '83 & '94, so started with won the cup in '83 and then '94 (11 years later) and now we are 11 years on again in 2005 we were in the first division last time we won it, wore candystripes when we first won it and now we are back in candystripes, beat non league oppositon in the first round after a replay as we did in '94, our assistanat manager in '94 played in the last cup final we won before that, Chris Rutherford, and our current asssitant manager, Gerry Carr, also played in the last side that won the cup in '94.However there was one part missing ,or so we thought we didnt have a player manager as we did in '83 with Paul Fielding and Willie McStay in '94, however as Sean was suspended off the line for the match our manager for the night was in fact a player manager, Gerry Carr....
And to add to these omens we also met and beat Cork on route to winning the cup in '94..... Could it be
we also had a big northern striker and a flying local right winger in 94

When we last won the Cup, we knocked out the holders after a replay, coming from behind to draw the away game. Wonder who that was?![]()
That was us amazingly enough. We've won it since though. We've won the league as well you know.....
