    Thinking About Coming Home

    Hi,

Just looking for some advice about moving back to Dublin. I've been gone for 10 years and I think I want to go back (family etc.). I travel back twice a year and I am coming back for the Ireland-France match on the 7th. I've been in the US for the 10 years so it might be time!

Any thoughts, comments or just observations would be appreciated.

Also, are they are good recruitment agencies that I could stop into while I am back in two weeks just to get a sense of the career prospects?

    Thanks.

Well firstly.. welcome back to a country you can almost afford to be sick in.

Secondly property is extremely expensive over here houses in Dublin area start at around €250,000 for a half decent second hand house.

There are a number of online ones you can check out before you get here.

www.Recruitireland.com, www.monster.ie spring to mind and I am sure there are others

Thanks. Sadly I am aware of the property prices and I am still kicking myself that I missed the boat on that. I guess I was hoping to find or get a suggestion for a recruiter I could sit down with and discuss job prospects in Ireland.

Depends on what sort of work you are looking to do. I would certainly strongly suggest at least 2 agencies over there. Other than that, try and go sector specific where ever posible.

Just don't bother. Country is run by the biggest eejit in Europe and is getting more and more expensive to live in. Stay with Bush and Co. (and that takes a lot to say!)

Well I'm from the Northside so that's where I'll probably move back to. America is fun but my family is in Ireland so I'm a little torn.

We'll see when I get back next week I suppose. I did manage to snag some tickets to the match!

What ? OK, better than US, but doctor visits are terribly expensive... My wallet still recovers from it... Not that Belgium s much better, at least not unless you have a serious illness that "isn t your own fault"

For work: try www.edenrecruitment.ie , they have a nice database of vacancies and are a get-together of several recruitment offices who united powers.

    Best of luck!

Also, consider well. Moving back is a step just as big as moving out, leaving again is not easy as experience from many people tells.
It s kinda funny that I don t miss family at all. I do miss some people in .BE but they are friends, I don t miss family. Weird... My contacts and bonds with my parents improved a lot with a wee more distance.

What sort of work would you like to do? The economy is doing better than in most of the EU ; doesn t Ireland have the lowest unemployment rates?

Thanks Gerrit. I'm in the legal side of things but looking for a change. I get home next week so I'm going to spend the week networking and generally getting myself acquainted with the city again.
