Very good article.
Interesting piece I found today about Kerr,
Judgement day is fast approaching for Kerr's Ireland
While I am a fan of Kerr, this article gave me some interesting food for thought...
Very good article.
What new food for thought has the article given you that has not been discussed here on the forum from all possible angles? Are you implying that what is written here is not interesting :-)Originally Posted by JimmyP

i dont know what to make of the article.. firstly it says Kerr tries to hard in the friendlies then it says that he didnt take the last friendly serious enough.
Sure he made a few small errors, clinton in tel aviv etc. but at the end of the day its the 11 irish players who let us down. They are good enough to beat switzerland and israel but FAILED. Its either through lack of motivation or non belief in kerrs background. I blame them
Agree with:
Point about Duff upfront. This is a perpetual error.
Kerr's inability to cope with enforced subs, though in fairness, gambling with Andy Reid to replace Clinton in Paris was a relative success.
Kerr being too formulaic in friendlies.
Disagree with:
O'Shea's chance in Paris being a sitter. He was unlucky.
The criticism of bringing Holland on in Tel Aviv to change to an "unaccustomed" 5 man midfield. This is factually incorrect. Kerr said he moved Duff upfront when Holland came on. In my mind playing a 5 man midfield was the RIGHT thing to do & moving Duff upfront in any circumstance is an error.
"Whispers from fans and media". Fans don't whisper, they say. I'm more worried about what the player's perception of Kerr is. I want to know that they rate him, and I'm not sure they do.
I don't think a draw in Paris was a wasted opportunity. Sure, we could have won, but it's not right to say we should have won.
The performance in Faroes. Yes, it was crap but we got 3 points in awful weather. Only Cyprus has won by more than we did. France & Switzerland only won by two.
Connolly, McGeady & Stack were not necessarily in form for their clubs, or even playing for their clubs. But I do accept that some players have been lucky to keep their places and Dunne, Harte & S. Reid in particular should have been involved.
Despite some dodgy assertions the end message of the article is right though. Failure to qualify will be just that - a failure. We have been given ample opportunities to control this group and we've taken none of them.
It's the group of dearth.
Not going to read it. We have 3 crucial matches ahead with Kerr at the helm. Time to examine his merits and demerits after the games. No point in going over old ground now. What some newspaper hack writes now won't change things.
Bring on the French. God keep the two Keanes and Duff free from injuries until then.
I was after doing a post that took me bloody ages to type (I only use two fingers) and it appears it's gotten lost in cyberspace. Well there's only one thing for it. I'm going to the pub.
Hi All,
I am still a fan of Kerr's but he needs to be a bit more positive in his approach. What he really needs is a win against decent opposition in a competitive match, he hasn't had one yet. he will get a chance to put this right next week, lets hope he takes it.
Cheers,
Mark.
