i think the cross would sell out no matter who we play....i'd go for the greeks or the czechs as the teams we could most likely beat. but everton would be class!

Prague, Auxerre, PAOK are all superb sides, but wouldn't be the big draw that Everton or Hamburg would be.

Slavia, PAOK, Auxerre all eminently beatable. Hamburg got absolutely battered by Valencia in their last InterToto game, but somehow held out.

Couldn't care less how big a draw a team is, just means the cross will sell out at €30+ rather than €20. Would prefer a real chance of progressing over a glamourous defeat. Group stages would mean a helluva lot more to the club than one bumper gate.Everton or Hamburg, would be best I think.

i really doubt that. if it were liverpool, arsenal, etc...possibly, and then probably only the under 12s. i'd be really surprised (and saddened) if corkonians didnt support their local club in a competitive game no matter who the opposition.
That is one thing has to change in this country... supporting foreign teams when they play irish opposition. Its a fúcking disgrace IMO. I follow teams in different leagues but if they were playing any irish team I would support the irish team.
I agree but the reason I would like Everton is that they are the most high profile team in that group (maybe Auxerre as well). And I would give City as much a chance against Everton as any other team in there. They are all quality teams and our chances of progressing doesn't depend on who we are drawn against. Each team is just as tough as the next.
Cork City aren't going to make more money out of drawing Everton over any of the other teams as the Cross will be sold out anyway.
But if we drew Everton, we could tell them to stick their British Football up there a$$e$ and slag Zinedine Kilbane for being English and playing for Ireland. Would love to see Georgie run rings around him and maybe give Brian Kerr a wake up call.

A good showing against Everton (even beating them at home) would really give a big boost for the Eircom league from the general public's point of view.
Kerr said he wouldnt pick players until they are in the Champions League group stages and playing regularly there. But if Cork made the group stages then Kerr would have to take a look at some of the players, especailly O callaghan
we cpuld get past auxerre.....they got beaten 7-0 last week in the leauge.....their not a patch of the team they used to be-theyve just signed berson from villa on loan and if im not mistaken he played at the cross last tear for nantes

I really don't care what happens as we've exceeded expectations. Getting at least a draw in 1 game would be grat for coefficients & would mean City seeded in 1st qualifyiunbg rounds for next 5 years.

I reckon everton would be a handy draw in terms of winning the tie. They are the least technical team compared to the others. Id fancy georgie and fenn against phil neville too. Murray against drunken duncan would be a top battle.
Prague are very technical and rafael van der vaart plays for hamburg now. The greeks i guess would be the next 'soft touch' after Everton cos greeks travel badly.
This is where my knowledge of French football comes in handy.....
Auxerre lost their last game 7-0 away to Lens. Their manager is Jacques Santini, ex-France and Spurs coach. Their previous manager, Guy Roux, had been in charge for 43 years and he only left in the summer!! So I think the team are a bit shook up since he left.

Are they the same PAOK that beat Arsenal 2-1 on aggregate in the first round of the 1997/98 UEFA Cup?
They were called PAOK Salonika or something but these guys are listed as PAOK FC. Anyone know?
