Strong Under 21 squad named for France clash

Republic of Ireland U-21 Manager, Don Givens, has announced an 18-man squad ahead of their crucial U.E.F.A Under-21 European Championship tie against France on 6th September.

Willo Flood, Aiden McGeady, Paddy McCarthy and Darren Potter have all been recalled to the squad after missing the friendly against Northern Ireland earlier this month.

The Squad includes four home based players, Darren Quigley (UCD), Stephen Paisley (Longford Town) and the Cork City pair of Liam Kearney and Roy O’Donovan.

Don Givens men, currently lying in 4th position in Group 4 will be eager to overturn the narrow 1-0 defeat in the corresponding match against France in October last year.

The game will be played at Turners Cross, Tuesday 6th September, kick off 19.45 hrs.

Complimentary tickets for the game for schools, schoolboy/girl clubs and local groups are available from the FAI directly by contacting Aisling Fennin at aisling.fennin@fai.ie or phone the F.A.I on 01 7037500.

Henderson (Brighton and Hove Albion), Quigley (UCD), Foley (Luton Town), Kelly (Tottenham Hotspur), McCarthy (Leicester City), Fitzgerald (Bury), Sheehan (Leicester City), Paisley (Longford Town), Flood (Coventry City), Potter (Liverpool), Whelan (Sheffield Wednesday), Kearney (Cork City), McGeady (Celtic), Tabb (Brentford), Doyle (Reading), Murphy (Sunderland), O’Donovan (Cork City).

    I'd go along with that.

This match is live on Sky Sports for those who won't be watching it at Turners Cross. I actually can't wait for it. Haven't seen the U-21's in a while.
