So long as they don't draw Hearts along the way. Is it my imagination or do Hibs have a poor record against their Edinburgh rivals over the past few years ?

Good to see the Hun mess up last night Hibees back to 3rd, 7 points behind Jambos. A narrow win for the super Hibs But as Livi manager Paul Lambert said after the game "7-0 flattered my team, it should've been 12 or 13 nil"

Well done Hibs, bring on the Scottish Cup Final

Although they played well in the first half, they were nearly punished for not killing off the game at 2-0 up. Falkirk missed a great chance in the last minute to snatch a point(just like Dundee last week).

More than the first half, it was up until the Falkirk goal. That was when they got nervous.

Great win for Hibs, good to see them back in 3rd place. Though feel a bit sorry for Lambo, a thankless task he has there.

SCF?? You have to overcome the might Falkirk/Ross Cty yet - and lets not foget Hibs form against the lesser sides isn't the best - or has that now changed after last night?

Great to see the old current buns continue their run of form hopefully villareal will hammer the final nails in the coffin!!

I love that about you eirebhoy, you are certainly a half glass full man!!

I didn't make it up last night but listened to it on the radio. From what I heard we had a few short spells in either half that could be interpreted as good football. Other than that it was a very average performance that could again cost us points when we sat back on the 2-0 lead. But for the width of a post and it could have been 2-2 (I suppose we did hit the woodwork as well). 'Back to playing good football' nah....just better than recent weeks!

Sounded like Keane had a great game in the centre. Wonder what he'll do for Sunday with regards to Lennon??
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

Well I watched the match and trust me, it was a very good performance. Strachan said it was the most comfortable he felt since the Aberdeen home game in September. You're right, but for the width of the post it could have been 2-2 (although I knew it was off target as soon as he hit it ), but up until there goal in the 82nd minute Celtic should have been 4 or 5 goals up.

I guess its all about opinions and for last nights performance mine is obviously tainted by the commentators on the radio who weren't quite so upbeat about the performance as you are. Nor indeed are many (not all) celtic fans at the game last night from what Ive read on other mesasage boards.

So forgive me if I reserve judgement for now.

EDIT: Out of interest what channel did you watch the game on? Im assuming it will be on CelticTV tonight

McLeish to leave at the end of this season: official.

Scottish giants Rangers have confirmed that manager Alex McLeish with leave Ibrox at the end of the current season.

The Light Blues boss was given a stay of execution just before the New Year and the Glasgow club's Bank of Scotland Premier League form picked up.

But they lost 2-0 to Aberdeen last night, following an embarrassing 3-0 Tennent's Scottish Cup fourth round exit at the hands of Hibernian at Ibrox.

The SPL champions have slipped back into fourth place in the table, behind leaders Celtic, Hearts and Hibernian.

The Light Blues, who are still in the Champions League where they will face Villarreal in the last 16, are now 18 points behind their great rivals ahead of the third Old Firm clash of the season at Ibrox on Sunday.

Chairman David Murray told Rangers World: "The Manager's departure was agreed in early January as Alex believed that a four-and-a-half year term at the club was an appropriate period upon which to end his tenure.

"It had always been the board's intention to make this announcement after the Villarreal Champions League matches, in conjunction with other major changes that will have a significant impact, both in terms of new investment and personnel.

"However, in light of recent results and helpful discussions with various supporters' groups, directors and senior players, it was agreed that the announcement of the manager's departure should be made now.

Alex McLeish has enjoyed a highly successful period winning seven trophies over four-and-a-half years and during this time there has been significant financial constraints throughout the football environment in general.

"I also believe that, collectively, the club and the supporters together will play their part in success returning to Rangers Football Club."

Alex McLeish will be stepping down at the end of the season, as prevously posted according to radio reports this morning Chairman Mao ( sorry Murray) will be announcing his successor next month. That is not going to do much , to motivate the players, who are answering to an already lame duck coach now is it?

Don't want to dwell on it. Im happy with the victory and a performance that was significantly better than recent weeks.

Hearts fan who texted six-o-six after their defeat to Aberdeen.
" If Rix picked this team I'd say the owner(Abramovs I think) can pick the team for the rest of the season. Rix should leave and take over some amateur team and turn them into a pile of crap" or words to that effect

Before Hertz came calling it's worth remembering that Rix was all set to take over the manager's job at Crawley Town in the Nationwide Conference. Coincidentally it looks like that job is just about to become vacant again. Maybe the Hertz fans could have a whip-round for a one-way ticket south? I'm sure they could scrape together the £5 Megabus fare to London...

Not a great game. Celtic were worthy winners but at 1-0 its always a bit twitchy!! Hartson was very effective and his performance in this game makes me very pleased that he has retired from the Wales squad!!!

Hearts and Hibs again, show their inconsistency dropping points, that on paper, were there for the taking.
