Dublin born to parents from Moldova and joined Oxford back in January from Shels. Made his Oxford debut back in April and featured in two games.
Has started this season in superb form for Oxford though. So much so that Mark McCadden is reporting that Brighton have identified Negru as an option if they fail to sign Cashin.
Made team of the week this weekend, along with Cashin, and Oxford have won the three games which he's started in. They won 3-1 away to Barnsley at the weekend, 2-1 away to Derby midweek, and 1-0 at home to Carlisle last weekend. They lost their opening game 2-0 away to Cambridge.
New signing Jordan Thorniley picked up an injury in their 5-1 loss to Bristol in the EFL cup and manager has confirmed he'll be out for a few weeks. With this upturn in form since Negru has come into the team will hopefully be quite awhile before Thorniley starts again unless they bring him in at LB.
Played half a dozen games for Shels towards the back end of last season and was very impressive. Chat at the time was that he remained on an amateur deal at Shels and they got nothing for him from his move to England.

Signs a new long term contract with Oxford. Has had a good start to the season with Oxford and unlucky not to make the U21s squad.
Dropped today.
Kenny's kids is a must follow on Twitter.
Status of every Irish player.
Invaluable. If you aren't following get on it!
Harsh when you consider the good form they're in. No Lawal in the starting XI either for Fleetwood.
Why it doesn’t compete with Foot.ie?
Do you think it would be a little easier on days like this to have a single thread instead of going through all the players…Lemmie see what’s up at Preston today…
An Irish starters/subs today thread, I think it would be useful on Saturdays.
Noelys retirement cost us the scorers thread which is another shame. I’m trying to convince Nigel to take it over
I've been doing the same thing for years.
It's right there in my signature!
If Elon wasn't burning Twitter to the ground for kicks and giggles, I'd still be posting live updates there too
We honour Tets who walked so others could run
Ah I'm always on a tablet on here and I don't see it.
Sorry tets. I will start following you today if I don't.
Tets has been my bread and butter for decades. He will last the test of time.
Twitter useful, and saves me several minutes at the weekends, happy to let others do the heavy lifting for me. Seems like Twitter stalwarts have come and gone, get burnt out after a few months then get greedy looking for sponsorship etc for what amounts to sending a few retweets in between bowls of cornflakes in the morning. Rep of Ireland tracker ahead of Kenny’s Kids currently for me btw but use purely as a content resource, many of their interpretations/opinions purely hyperbolic and annoying.
But Tets will prevail above them all
For the most part those Twitter pages are just nonsense hype-merchants. Appreciate the goal updates but have unfollowed all but one of them because I can't take the constant hype and spin. The Kenny's Kids page is also ridiculously wedded to our disaster of a manager given the name.

You guys are a tough crowd and some of you are unhappy people. I would not wind up Tets. My bad.
It's cool man. I'm not really a fan of any of the other pages, whatever they might have started out as, they're all basically hype machines now.
The Irish abroad updates on Twitter are badly missed. Just facts, no spin. I know they're still on Mastodon, but I just don't think that is going to take hold as a widely used platform.
I wonder could a reduced service be brought back that maybe just covers goals and assists as they happen or something like that, to keep it within the new tweet/post limits?
I've looked into it, and it's a bit more complicated than that. Basically, the new API* is s complete mess, and barely fit for purpose. The support forums are full of complaints from paying customers that are going unresolved. If/when it's more stable I'll revisit using Twitter for the live updates
And I refuse to call it anything other than Twitter
*An API is the methods a company makes available to use its resources, on Twitter's case it's what allows a developer to post updates automatically
