    Opta stats

Just looking at the Opta Stats on the Sky Sports site 2 matches into the season.

Andy Reid has been impressive. He's the 4th highest passer at Spurs with 81 passes, 78% of which find a teammate. 78% is very high and only usually found with a holding midfieder like Keane who prefers the short pass, Keane has 76% success rate so far. He also put in 23 crosses with a high 30% success rate. The 2nd highest crosser is Michael Carrick with just 4. The really suprising one is tackling. Reid has put in more tackles than anyone at Spurs with 10 so far this season and a 69% success rate. He also has the highest dribbling stats with 20 dribbles (10 more than 2nd placed Mido) and a 53% success rate.

Another with impressive stats is O'Shea. He has the exact same passing stats as Reid and is also the 4th highest passer at his club. That is really suprising considering his passing for Ireland is often slated (by me too). Also like Reid he has put in more tackles than anyone at his club with 9 and a 69% success rate. Plus he set up a goal in the 1st game of the season.

Here's a list of all the Irish who made the top 5 in any category for their club:

    Shooting:
    (2) - Kevin Kilbane - 2 - 0%
    (4) - Gary Breen - 1 - 0%

    Passing:
    (1) - Roy Keane - 123 - 76%
    (3) - Gary Breen - 94 - 74%
    (1) - Kenny Cunningham - 87 - 76%
    (2) - Steven Reid - 84 - 74%
    (4) - John O`Shea - 81 - 78%
    (4) - Andy Reid - 81 - 78%
    (4) - Stephen Carr - 62 - 78%
    (5) - Alan Mahon - 46 - 76%

    Crossing:
    (1) - Andy Reid - 23 - 30%
    (2) - Stephen Carr - 10 - 24%
    (3) - Damien Duff - 8 - 23%
    (3) - Alan Mahon - 7 - 23%
    (4) - Steve Finnan - 4 - 19%
    (5) - Stephen Elliott - 3 - 26%

    Tackling:
    (2) - Kenny Cunningham - 12 - 73%
    (1) - Andy Reid - 10 - 69%
    (1) - John O`Shea - 9 - 69%
    (3) - Roy Keane - 8 - 69%
    (5) - Steve Finnan - 7 - 73%
    (5) - Andy O`Brien - 5 - 73%
    (4) - Gary Breen - 5 - 64%

    Dribbling:
    (1) - Andy Reid - 20 - 53%
    (1) - Damien Duff - 16 - 53%
    (1) - Stephen Carr - 10 - 53%
    (4) - Steven Reid - 9 - 75%

    Fouls Won:
    (1) - Damien Duff - 8
    (3) - Steven Reid - 4

    Fouls Lost:
    (1) - Stephen Carr - 5
    (2) - Damien Duff - 3
    (4) - Gary Breen - 3

Also, I know the Actim Index has his critics but Duff got 3 bonus points in the Fantasy premier league which means he was statisically the most effective player in the Chelsea-Arsenal match yesterday.

If Reid has put in 10 tackles how has he a 69% success rate Is it possible to win 6.9 tackles out of 10

Taking a look at the Actim index top 100 (new out today)
    http://actim.pa.press.net/top100_prem.shtml

    Here are the Irish players:-

    4 A Reid Tottenham 0.51
    9 R Keane Man Utd 0.44
    13 D Duff Chelsea 0.42
    31 J O'Shea Man Utd 0.37
    67 S Finnan Liverpool 0.28

Nice to Andy Reid flying high!!
Considering how much weight he is (alledgely) carrying

Seems to correspond with Opta stats.

Also I believe all/most of the Irish players are 'up' on last week.
We are looking very strong in midfield with Reid, Keane and Duff
(Kilbane has only played on game I believe).
