Was sickened by that headline. Its excellent for eL coverage back home, and its a lot less pompous the Irish edition too, and bought the Irish edition a lot. but i have stopped buying it, you get to see their true colours over here.

you're extremely easy on the Irish Sun. It is virtually the same paper, with a different headline, and some additional sport. Most of the content is exactly the same, and it's just some cop out to claim that the paper is somehow different when it simply isn't arsed covering irish news to a significant degree.
Certainly, the UK Sun printed awful unfounded allegations post-Hillsborough, but it was also the paper that secretly uncovered Bruce Grobbelaar receiving unauthorised payments to throw Liverpool games in 1993.

The Irish Sun is less sensationalist, and covers all the top Irish stories, and has it's own Irish columnists. All the red-top tabloids here, are Irish editions of the UK edition, are more conservative, and feature roughly the same amount of stories from here.

Not in the UK they're not, not since Bliar railroaded changes to Clause 4 of the party's constitution at the annual conference back in 1994.

Hence, any grounding in socialism that the party may have had moved from this:

    To this:

Mmm-mmm-mmm. Nice and fluffy. Socialism-lite, if you will.

Note well, mypost. Calling yourself socialist does not mean that you are a socialist. After all, did a certain German political movement of the 1930s not include a reference to "socialist" in their name? An extreme case, sure, but the point is made.

Actually the name Labour was choosen to encourage a wide, support base and the secular interests of socialism (can easily be rewrote to say they didn't have the cojones to come out and actually stand for socialism unequvicolly)

mypost; another (Brit edition) scum headlines 'Are we run by a Gay Mafia?' front page article regarding the possibility that a few of the Labour cabinet may not turn to their 'news'papers fascinating atricles on page three when they pick it up. I can't seem to remember any are we run by a hetrosexual mafia headlines under the when Mellor and the rest of the randy feckers were in Number 10. The Sun never actually really why a persons sexuality should affect their ability to run the country and as far as I remember never apologised for this disgraceful homophobic slur, but hey who cares about stirring up hatred when you can shift a few more copies.

Equally the ill disguised gloating of the rag when Lee Clegg was released stood in stark contrast to their reaction when the Birmingham six or the Guilford four were released and instead of commenting on the disgrace the conviction was, they concentrated on the fact that ten innocent men who had spent a decade behind bars may recieve compesation. But then again who cares they were only Irish
