    O'Grady and Coughlan recieve bans.

Cork City midfielder Conor O'Grady has recieved a two match ban after picking up 11 penalty points for bookable offences. The ban will come into effect as and from the start of the season, thus, O'Grady will miss city's first two games of the season. Meanwhile, Cork City defender Derek Coughlan has recived a one match ban after picking up five penalty points.

I thought that bans were no longer caried forward from season to season due to the "Clive Delaney Ruling" where he and another few players protested at having bans from thier last season brought on to the next. They were succesful and were given "disiciplanary credits" to make up for the matches missed. Maybe Schumi can help out with this one?
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

It seems players have to do very little to get suspensions these days. What has Derek been up to eh??

I think suspensions are decided on the following basis:
    1. Pick a fella who looks hard, nasty or liable to not like dubs.
    2. Show him a yellow card or two.
    3. Suddenly discover several cards he picked up playing u-12 reserves and then add together to ensure he accumulates the necessary points for a suspension.

I think they have changed to situation where bans but not points not carried forward i.e. serve a ban if due one but everyone also starts with clean slate at start of season.

    Makes sense to me anyway.

yeah, I'm pretty sure they did that. The old system was madness. You could get a guy getting booked once a year and he'd still get suspended over it!
