A lot of people put that down to Pete Mahon's coaching though.

Pete Mahon was Roddy Collins' assistant before taking over.

Are you trying to defend Roddy's managerial skills. At the start of the season he had the second biggest outlay on wages in the league and look where he got you. This is after the wonderful progress he made with Dublin City. And of course not to be forgotten his exploits at Carlisle.

That's just stupid... Its a well known fact that Roddy took the training sessions and Mahon had little to do other than collect the cones. The fact that he stayed in the job and allowed Roddy to make him look like a fool is a major reason why the players had absolutely no respect for him when he took over.

Like Roddy or not, he was the manager when Bohs had the best season of its existence, so he gets the managerial credit. I am sure that Pete Mahon played his role in the success, as John Lewis did the year previously too.

As for Roddy's work with Rovers, when you ignore points deductions they would be 5 points behind Bohs and Drogheda. He is not doing as bad a job as people are making out(but he is not doing a great job either).

As far as Pete Mahon goes, he must have done a good job as Roddy's assistant when we won the double. The manager's job was too much for him as he was a disaster, plain and simple. The UCD job is probably tailor made for him and he is doing a good job there, but he is not up to managing a club with ambition like Bohs/Shels/Cork/Derry/Rovers etc.
