    Don't know why in particular, but I was really knocked back reading that today, since I never met him or was particularly a fan. Maybe it's that there've been a couple of pieces on the Beeb in recent times touching on his battle with cancer and giving out really positive vibes about his recovery, then it came to nought.
    A similar thing happened with Bob Monkhouse that time. And Paul Eddington. Just made it more of a shock than it might have been otherwise I suppose.

    So farewell then... Jack Palance, the film actor. Not sure if he ever got a lead roll but he played the baddie very well. I remember him in SHANE as smiling gunfighter clad in black who contrasted with the whiter than white Alan Ladd as Shane.

    dallas is class so well written...we have all episodes in the up till series 5 (i think) on dvd....

    they're releasing more and more every couple of months....

    Farewell Cartoon creator Joseph Barbera who has died of natural causes at the age of 95.
    Barbera first round success creating the legendary Tom and Jerry cartoons with his long-time partner Bill Hanna.

    The Hanna-Barbera partnership was also responsibile for Yogi Bear, the Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, the Jetsons and Huckleberry Hound.
