Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Sylvia Kristel, star of Emmanuelle series of erotic films, dies at 60 after long battle with cancer.
I was told about Kristel's death just now and it was so odd. I only saw her in a couple of real crappy movies (Concorde - I think that was a Sunday afternoon staple, and one about a women's prison in East Germany - though not what you'd think). My Mam and sister had coffee with her in Malta years and years ago, said she was absolutely lovely.

Emmanuel Steward passed away last night in the US. While he was one of the better trainers in boxing, he was, more importantly, a really lovely man and did so much work for under privileged people in his hometown of Detroit and wherever he went. Met him in 1999 in Frankfurt where he turned up for a charity event (on his own coin) that was raising funds for a night basketball league. Only 68 and had been suffering from cancer for some time. Great man.

Although I'd file that under "I thought he was already dead".....
I've used his "They don't like it up 'em" so many times in relation to namby pamby teams/opponents, always thought of him when I said it. I know make up etc can work wonders, but I thought he was well into his 70's back in the 70's.
Bill Tarmey, aka Jack Duckworth from Coronation Street passed away aged 71 in Tenerife this morning. Seemed to be a loveable type of guy and came across really well in every interview on TV.

Larry Hagman, or JR Ewing to the world, died overnight aged 81. One of the real cultural icons of the 1980's and a character to boot. So important they are leading the 10am news in Moscow with it.

...Dave Sexton. One of the last of the generation of "gentleman" English football managers. Managed both Man U and Chelsea.
