Into the semi-final of the Coupe de France after a win on penalties against Strasbourg. The game was scoreless
He's done enough this season to justify a call up, and with Paddy McCarthy now involved for March's games surely we'll see him involved.
Yes, it ends up being the winning goal. If nothing else, we could be some threat from corners if we can get all of him, Collins, O'Shea and Omobamidele on the pitch.
He's a big unit alright.
Fourth of the season, second winner - He's their second highest scorer this season, behind Lacazette (they are a low-scoring team, with only 31 goals in 27 league games).
Will be facing Kylian Mbappe in the final of the Coupe De France after Lyon's victory over Valenciennes: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2024...down-in-final/
Credited with an assist as Lyon go 1-0 up on Brest tonight. Still half an hour to go, but as it stands Lyon are amazingly (given their start) up into the European spots now. 7 points from their first 14 games but 34 points from 15 since then
Insane game of football
Lyon went one up in the first half, Brest scored three goals in ten minutes in the second half to go 3-1 ahead.
Lyon got it back to 3-3
Two players were sent off around 87 minutes, and lyon win it with a last minute penalty after Lacazette is knocked out by the Brest goalkeeper!
Reported interest from Juventus in O’Brien for €20M according to the Gazetta.

They must have a thing for that surname.
Ha!! Brilliant!!
Does anyone know who the most expensive uncapped Irish player in history was?
If Jake moves for in the summer and isn't capped in June, that's got to blow the record out of the water entirely!
Lyon have one league game left and need some results to go their way to finish within the European places or beat PSG in the cup final. If PSG win the cup then sixth gets the Europa League spot (currently Lens 50pts +8GD), 7th gets Conference playoff spot (currently Lyon 50pts -7GD), but Marseille have a game in hand which if they win they'll jump ahead of Lens and Lyon because of goal difference (currently 47pts +11GD).
An excellent first season for O’Brien, can’t ask for much more of 1 million euro signing, cup final and Europa League qualification secured with him playing week in week out.
He seems to be a bit of a cult hero there and the supporters seem to be in 2 minds wether to cash in or keep him and hope he develops further,I’d really hope he stays at Lyon rather go to Juve who’ll have a new manager and are hard to gauge, another season of playing every week and Europa League football sounds like a good idea to me…..
Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
Lyons form pretty much turned around when O'Brien cemented his place in the team. They looked like being in a relegation battle early on so it's been a great turn around by then.
I'd agree that I'd like to see him have one more season at Lyon though before he moves to a big club.
Its really not that complicated!!!
