They might get a few quid out of it, but any sell on would have been activated when the Eagle group sold him within their own umbrella from Palace to Lyon, so I can't see there being any significant windfall there.

Clever/cynical move from Textor's people to sell O'Brien within the group while he was undervalued, to be fair to them.

They'll be entitled to some solidarity contribution payment. 5% of whatever the transfer fee will be is set aside and divided between the clubs that trained him between his 12th and 23rd birthday.

Think they might be entitled to some training compensation also given his age.

Incidentally one possible outcome here is that we end up with three Irish centre backs at Nottingham Forest, (O'Brien, Omobamidele and Egan) which wouldn't be ideal.
