First Irish player to score in the cup final of one of the big five leagues (England/Spain/Germany/France/Italy) since John Aldridge in 1989? First Irish born player to do it since Frank Stapleton in 1983? Or have I missed someone?

Are we counting Kelleher's penalty in the league cup final shoot out last season?

I wasn't counting the league cup at all to be honest, was thinking more the primary cup competition in each country.

Shoot-out goals don't usually count anyway (much and all as you'd be tempted to make an exception for a keeper)

With Everton mentioned as being in the mix the current Lyon owner John Textor is being linked with a possible takeover of Everton. Some talk he wants to sell his 40% of Palace and be a majority owner instead somewhere else.

That could be a massive opportunity with Hummels expected to leave this summer. Schlotterbeck would be a quality centre-back to play beside.

He already co-owns Crystal Palace, would that be even possible?

As JR points out, he needs to sell his CP stake first.

Dortmund would be a fantastic move alright. Though, in this case, staying at Lyon would also be really good. I guess he'll be signing for Everton then!

Lyon not only making Mangala's loan move permanent but they're also buying Moussa Niakhate from Forest.

Bringing in two players for a reported €60M this summer could mean they're looking to cash in on O'Brien this summer. Especially with one of them being a CB.

£30m (likely including a ton of add-ons) is the reported asking price for O'Brien with Everton and Nottingham Forest supposedly interested. £23m for Nathan Collins is the transfer record for an Irish player but it could be broken again this summer. If he goes for over £20m it would be the fourth Irish transfer over that amount, all four transfers involving centre backs.

They might get a few quid out of it, but any sell on would have been activated when the Eagle group sold him within their own umbrella from Palace to Lyon, so I can't see there being any significant windfall there.

Clever/cynical move from Textor's people to sell O'Brien within the group while he was undervalued, to be fair to them.

They'll be entitled to some solidarity contribution payment. 5% of whatever the transfer fee will be is set aside and divided between the clubs that trained him between his 12th and 23rd birthday.

Think they might be entitled to some training compensation also given his age.

French football site foot01.com reporting that a little over €20m (£16.8m) could secure O'Brien.

Incidentally one possible outcome here is that we end up with three Irish centre backs at Nottingham Forest, (O'Brien, Omobamidele and Egan) which wouldn't be ideal.
