How will the European teams do this week?

How good is this Hungarian team if they were hammered by KI?

Interesting week. Hopefully the teams can rise to the occasion.

Rory Gaffney would be a loss. Must be a doubt if he left the Dundalk game so early.

Both sides have lost 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5.

They did beat Rovers 4-0 at home last year (and then topped their Europa League group ahead of Monaco, Trabzonspor and Red Star Belgrade), so they can't be that bad.

The defeat against KÍ looks like one of the biggest European upsets in years (and as noted, it's cost their manager his job)

A Hungarian football account I follow on Twitter was saying that since they went out of Europe last season, they have really declined. Enough for Rovers to beat them, not likely, but like Rovers, they seem to be a poorer version compared to last season.

Must have impressed a few clubs and lost their best players I guess.

Rovers are also missing 2 others -Trevor Clarke and Jack Byrne. Wouldnt fancy their chances at all tbh.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Very possible, especially as teams only really try against Rovers!

Not expecting much personally. We've a relatively weaker league this year.

Can’t see anything but defeat for Rovers. Ferencvaros seem weaker than previous years, but Rovers are struggling badly at the moment.
Dundalk and Derry have more of a shout.
Dundalk are capable of getting past mid table Icelandic opposition so imo they’ve the best chance.

Grinding out the cup result against Rovers could stand to us. More grit than style performance I know, but knock out football, hanging in there with 10 men against a stronger side on paper, managed minus the Hoban factor. Could well be very useful preperation when not knowing how much of the ball you'll have or whether they are grafters rather than ballers etc. Im less nervous about this tie - we were expected to win the 1st round comfortably and losing to Magpies would have been a disaster, bringing it own type of pressure. While we are expected to get results as seeded in QR2, the way the league has been this season, it wouldnt be a total shock if we dont make it too easy for ourselves. On target for for what should be minimum expectations for us (and league) ie QR3 when not on the champions pathway.

Hibs of Scotland 2-0 down in Andorra into the last five minutes

    That's not a result I was expecting.

Whatever about other winter leagues doing ok in European games in the off season, the same can’t be said for Scottish sides.
