pike are still 9 points clear of carew park and 4 ahead of the boro, with both of those still having to play each other. Pike still in the driving seat, tough game on sunday away to UL from them now. A win will put them 12 ahead of carew and 7 ahead of the boro

ya,keeps people intersted anyway.pike badly need a good centre forward, how many times have they scored more than one goal in a game this year?[/QUOTE]

i was at the pike game last night and i agree with you they badly need a striker first half hill celtic were very unlucky not to be going in at the break in front they missed two excellant chances with only the keeper to beat pike also hit the bar from skinner. second half it was all pike but the thing i noticed pike did not create anything except a free kick that was well saved. you get the feeling when watching pike that if they go behind in a game you cant really see them scoring two the get the three points. anyway its still pikes league to lose they will beat ulaa on sunday as abbeyvale said there in freefall

Its not only the forwards that create chances, you create chances as a team. Pike have had a lot of strikers over the last few years that would have been banging in goals with other teams, its a strange one. I fancy pike to beat Aishling on sunday but it won't be easy as the mid week games don't suit them as they have a few players that work outside of limerick during the week and probably weren't available. On sundays they are a different team. They will still stay up though as hill celtic are very poor and won't gain enough points to stay up. Also with regards to carew I can't see them winning every game from on until the rest of the season, they will surely have a bad day and draw one or two.

Have to agree as regards Pike not finding the net - there problem in my opinion is not a lack of a quality striker but the way they attack as a team - they have no creative midfielder and rarely have i seen 1 of there wingers beating the full back and getting to the bye line. When Fairview were at there peak i would hazard a guess that at least 50% of there goals came via the wingers and there ability to beat there man and deliver quality ball into the box.

in fairness there are no top class finishers (apart from maybe Jason O'Connor and he is coming to the end) since Barrett, Robbie, and possibly Davey Wall left the premier,
i think this is probably why limerick teams are not winning FAIs or Munsters and why the so called big teams in town are dropping unexpected points - not taking chances

I totally agree. Pike aren't playing the killer ball or killer finish. Its all hopeful stuff. They have the players theres no doubting that, but if they want to win major trophies then this is what is required to do so. IMO they have the best squad of players in the league and they should be blowing teams away at this stage of the season. They are after slipping up now against hill celtic they can't afford a repeat performance in their remaining games. They play most of the bottom teams in the league in their run in. If they don't win it from this position then they simply don't deserve it.

ive a feeling that pike are becoming a bit jittery.
their history shows that they have a problem in keeping leads in the league.
in fairness you would still put them as favs but this in itself may prove their wrongdoing.
don't know if its possible for carew to string 7 or 8 wins together when they can't even beat what is obviously the worst view team in 12 years !

in fairness headerball carew park already beat fairview a couple of weeks ago in the league 2-0 carew rested a few players for this games e.g wheelan, o connor, bob, bubbles, plus cyril maher had ten staples in his head from playing hurling the night before and any who was at the match could tell you carew could of been 3 or 4 one up at half time but its about taking your chances and fairview took theres best of luck to them. i think you will see a diff... carew park team in the lawson on sat.. evening once again playing the view.

as for carew parks run in for the league
    mungret regional (H)
    balla (h)
    charaville (H)
    boro (H)
    regional (H)
    fairview (H)
    hill celtic (H)
    ulaa (A)

thats a near impossable task to get full points against all them teams a very hard run in and if carew do win the league looking at that run in they will deserve it.

    results 20/4/06

    pike rovers 1 granville 0
carew park 3 mungret regional 1 (ger ned, jason o connor, albert slattery )

carew and mungret game was very poor in fairness mungret battled for every ball and played IMO very well and it makes you wonder if they played half as good as they did tonight they would not find themselves in the position there in. carew got an early goal but they could not score the second due to some very poor finishing until midway through the second half.
