The fact is that this story was broken to the Limerick Leader and Live95fm and both took it as truth that NOC had departed the club. Thats when I found out. Of course I was absolutely delighted and with news like this I'm certainly not going to keep it to myself. By all accounts the reliable (as in high up in the club) person who informed the local media was no longer available for contact. In fact all club officials were told more or less to keep their phones off. I think the club's stunt to create news around it has backfired spectacularly for a number of reasons...
    (1) most Limerick fans even those who said give NOC to the end of the season were glad to hear he was gone. This has strenghtened the growing feeling amongst fans to remove NOC which leads to point two,

    (2) that the club has undermined the authority and confidence in the manager by using him so casually to create a media cycle around Limerick FC which makes his position less than secure,

    (3) the behaviour of the club in this manner is disturbing, there is no logic to such a move. If the intention was to unsettle Sligo then it has had the reverse effect and I think upset the tender balance that the club was clinging onto at the moment. With the fans support for Danny and NOC at a low this was certainly the last thing the club needed and finally

(4)its ironic that at a time when there's a poll on Danny, the arguement for him is that for without his money who knows where the club would be but its obvious the price we pay for having Danny in the club is to accept the behaviour of a man who clearly lost his senses a long time ago. His management style from day one has concerned me and the honeymoon period is now over as other fans find out about him. I don't think the Limerick fans will be cheering his name anymore as they did away to Kildare County. The next time they chant it, it will be more than likely they want him removed. If Danny wants a return on his investment in the club then he needs to step aside and let someone else manage the club affairs. Along with NOC he is having a detrimental effect on the club and undoing all the good work done so far. Is it any wonder that the fans which numbered 1,000 at the start of the season have been dwindling away at every match to just a couple of hundred.

I agree, I think if Danny wants to build a successful club then he should be looking to plan the future of Limerick Fc without the services of NOC. I think they bring the worst out in each other. While I was one of those saying he needs a season to see how far he has taken this side, I believe now he should walk away, as I feel it will get worse before it will get better. You are right the crowds have fallen dramatically and thats been mainly down to results and McCarthys departure dare I say it.Our form seems to have dissappered since he left as well as our supporters.Wonder what the reprucusions will be should we lose tonights fixture in the Showgrounds.Heres hoping we don't though.

    Foot blamed for rumour

According to a piece in today's Star by Robert Reid, this website was where the rumour of NOC's departure started. So I guess they are laying the blame for the 'hoax message posted on a football website' (direct quote from Star) on you Nempton.
Now I hope you'll take the same stand as NOC has, being quoted in the paper saying:"I wouldn't even dignify it with a response."
Our chairman was also quoted:"Noel O'Connor is in charge for the game against Sligo Rovers. He has not resigned and any media reports suggesting the club is in turmoil are rubbish."
If you don't like John 3:7...
    There's always Limerick 37!

    quite right

[QUOTE=Nempton]As you know Gael I actually did check with my source, you were there.[QUOTE]

Well said nempton but i was saying that for other persons benifet. I too belive your spot on on how the story broke and yes i was standing or sitting right alongside you when it did. and i have said this to everyone who has cared to ask me on how the story came to being. The star have not asked me so therefore they have waffle. I think the blame is being laid at your feet with the internet hoaxer thing but rest assured most people know who the real source of this story is. You see the story didnt come from you in fact it has two if not three zones before you. You sinply forwarded it on to the public by using the net, exactly how it was intended to break prob.

I knew the story was covered in the Star but I never knew they blamed the story on foot.ie and me, but then again it doesn't surprise me that high up club officials tell lies to the media all they have to do is follow the example of NOC

My dearest banterboy…your perfectly correct…you are entitled to your own opinion… no matter how moronic it is. I hope I don’t deter you from making more fantastic contributions and coming up with such great ideas. And thanks for suggesting I am gay. A nice touch. I shall put Dannys rod back in his pants now and support you all the way.

From what I hear, the sacking of O Connor story was a ruse to see who was leaking the stories from inside the club, who they went to, and how fast they would come out. Pretty clever Danny, gotta hand this flawless plan to you, now if only there were a machine that you could make a wish to be a big boy like Tom Hanks did in that movie you'd be sorted
Jebus why cant you and Nempton just admit ye were behind it and it backfired your sh.tstiring did not work so next line of fire pass the blame to dd or noc no matter what happens they done it why do you go to matches because it must kill you to see the club being turned around for the best as you all ready stated you would love to see it go belly up so it would pile it on dd and noc .Have they done something to you or what are you a failed footballer ?are you a failed manager?are you realy such a sad git you have to knock everything .or better still are you just a failed bitter person that hates to see anything work?

A few points to address the highly salient and sensible post by good old Chairman Willie.

    1) Nempton and Jebus didn't break the story. The Limerick Leader did. According to the people in the Leader that I spoke to the rumour was leaked by a couple of high-ranking club officials who then promptly turned off their phones and refused to clear up the mess they'd made. It was just convenient to blame the website afterwards. I won't say who these officials were but I will say that one of them posts here and pretends it's somebody else. His grammer could do with a bit of work too.

    2) The supporters were never offered the chance to run the club. So allow me to answer that query right there. It's irrelvant anyway, if somebody makes a mess of an operation on me I don't need a medical degree to be in a position to criticise him. My missing limbs or leaking organs would be proof enough (in a football context insert missing midfield and leaking defence I suppose ) and enable me to criticise. I would expect my family and friends to criticise on my behalf if things went particularly badly!

    3) What have the supporters given the club? The very fact that you asked that just boggles my mind. Outside of support I'm going to throw a few questions back at you. Who mans the gate at U-21s games? Who actually does the whole selling of tickets for the much hyped car draw? Who have written articles for the club programme? I think you'll find the answer to the questions I've just asked are.... The Supporters. It's nice to see that, as the clubs online mouthpiece, you're in a position to substantiate a commonly held theory that the current owners are more concered about money that anything else... Those naughty supporters won't throw us money... right... between a match ticket, a programme, a first goal ticket, a hot dog and a bottle of 7-Up I suppose I'm paying about €20 every time I set foot in Hogan Park.

I suppose I could have saved myself a lot of time and rather than writing all this (which I expect will go over your head anyway) I could have just done this -

Probably the most spot on post on this site EVER!
What Chairman Willie needs to realise is without the very fans he berates, there is no club. I really cant get over DD's behaviour this season. He HAS done some very positive things for the club but his relentless mission for attention is reckless and an insult to the supporters who have followed the club down the table over the years and would follow the club there again and again. If indeed Willie John, you are Drew, you have a lot of questions to answer. You have the cheek to have a go at the supporters club who dont gain a cent for the work and effort they do for this club week after week, you talk about people putting something into the club?? I for one offered to design an official site, posters, leaflets etc for the club FREE of charge at the start of the season, did I even get a REPLY to this offer?? NO. Then of course the Galway500 reaction. I send a message to you about planning a Limerick5000 AFTER all of this, throw a few ideas your way, whats your reply? Nothing. Jesus, if you asked the supporters to go out to Hogan Park and paint the place, get a few lawnmowers to the entrance they would. And you wonder then why we get a little uptight when the club throws away our top-scorer, trims the squad when its in trouble and our chairman calls the supporters scumbags...baffling.

Jesus and I was told at the game last night that Danny Drew, sorry I mean Willie John, gave me and Nempton a verbal spanking on foot, and this is all it is? A paranoid chairman mumbling about conspiracy theories and passing the buck about certain rumours(pot, kettle, Danny?). Anyway lets clear up a few points.

what are you a failed footballer ?
#1. I suppose you could call me a failed footballer in that I gave it up at schoolboy level (there's another clue to my identity Danny, send your flying monkeys out to search that one down)

Have they done something to you?
#2. Well I have had to endure watching the ball being punted from one end of the field to the other this season, and pay 8euro a game for it on top of that. It used to be 5euro a game, or at least I think it was, according to those darn 'club sources' it was never 5euro and we all imagined that.

are you realy such a sad git you have to knock everything
#3. What else am I gonna do, throw on one of my many Limerick tops and practice shooting on my new goalposts?

why do you go to matches because it must kill you
#4. Come on now, the hotdogs aren't that undercooked

Jebus why cant you and Nempton just admit ye were behind it and it backfired your sh.tstiring did not work so next line of fire pass the blame to dd or noc no matter what happens they done it
#5. Because as SLK said previously, we weren't the ones who broke the story, the Limerick Leader was, and basic common sense says that the Leader wouldn't take a story as big as the manager of Limerick FC resigning off of two regular fans. They would contact a high-up official first to confirm the story, and then run it. Now the only two officials that i would contact if I were trying to verify a story would be either Danny Drew, our esteemed Chairman, or Noel himself, so basic common sense says it must have been one of the two who either gave the Leader the story, or at the very least verified it. Danny you were caught with your pants down nowhere near the urinals on this one so take your own advice and stop passing the buck

The thing about having balls Willie is that you have to know what to do with them and by the sounds of it you've been juggling yours for the past while by your lonesome self.

To clarify for you and if you have difficulty understanding, I'm sure I can find some crayons and draw you a picture to help you understand...I'm not responsible for starting the story about Noel. I found out from a journalist source who informed me of what was going on. I posted what I heard here and that is all I'm guilty of. If I really was responsible then why did our 'beloved' Danny ring the Limerick Leader and ask John O'Shaughnessy to find out who leaked the story on the web. Clearly Willie John our chairman seems to know that I wasn't responsible for the story, jeez I wonder who is then?

All I will say is when I was told about Danny ringing into the Leader we all had a good laugh about it. Do you hear that flushing sound...thats Danny's credibility once more being flushed down the toilet
Somebody better get Willie John a tampon I think he's bleeding after this...(sorry for being so crude folks).
