Thought Longford were very competitive from the parts of the game I seen, would have like to have seen how it would have panned out if they had'nt conceeded nearly straight away after equalising.....
Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.

I feel a bit sorry for Kenny, it was an awkward bounce off the pitch. Still a bad miss of course but not laughing stock level.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Thought Longford made a good account of themselves today. Pats appeared to be playing in first/second gear for the majority of the game it was pretty flat stuff both on the pitch and in the stands but Longford defended very well for the most part in fairness and created 3 or 4 good chances in the game. Jack Brady in goal had a great game too until his sending off in injury time. As they say, result is all that matters in the cup, looking forward to Tuesdays draw now

Enjoyable match in Longford tonight. I'd actually caught Longford a few times prior to tonight. They had been the better team in each of those matches and hadn't won a single one of them. Only a slight variation tonight as they weren't exactly the better team but they certainly played well and created plenty. A couple of very silly moments from their centre halves knocked them out of the contest. They're almost quite a good team and they're quite easy on the eye but there's always something. I'm not sure how Longford fans feel about this group.
Disgusting behaviour, hope he is named and shamed, abs dxxxhead whoever he is.
On the game, this was just an amazing performance, when I saw our line up I could understand Hoban and Annsely not in panel (to an extent with one eye on 300k to earn from europe), but christ I thought it was curtains when I saw the Rovers xi.
Yes we dug deep, Andy Boyle possibly best ever DFC performance or at least back to 2016 mode, but christ you had to be there to witness the wave after wave of constant Rovers attacks for most of the second half amazed we stood firm but we did, what a result, and what a shift the team put in esp with 10 men for 60 mins. If we had conceded and it ended in a draw no way we would have held out.
Really impressed I have to say, surprised too, its been a great 3 days for the club.

Ah he should be scoring that L, yes its a different bounce v grass but he was on the pitch long enough to have seen what it was like, for me its up there with the peno in the Glentoran game and the OG by Lux keeper v Pats.
I don't think its laughing stock level, just an amazing miss really, but he wasn't alone, the level of mis-firing tonight by Rovers attackers was just off the scales, almost every time they broke free of our defence they either shot wide or straight at our GK Nathan.

As our pal Johnny Logan sang. What’s another year.
Ah that OG was another level altogether. One of the funniest I've ever seen. Thanks for reminding me of it. Needed a laugh.
And yeah we've forgotten how to put the ball in the net thing. Actually created chances tonight which was a nice surprise. Just brutal. And the defending for your goal was comical. Kenny's attempted headed clearance was almost as bad as the missed header at the other end.
Brief enough highlights from Harps v Kilbarrack.

Longford must be one of the hardest places to find somewhere to stay.
I booked a room in the Westhouse Cafe, on the way to the ground, only for them to say it wasn't. Went up the road to Tarmonbarry and got a room(and good night) in the Bar there. also there's only 2 Taxi drivers work Saturday evenings in Longford, so difficult if you don't have a car.
A proper cup tie in Longford, town played out of their skin. Probably unlucky not to bring it to ET. Hand's red was never a sending off. Brady obviously had to go. If you look at the pen, Lonergan knows exactly what he's doing too but Walsh should never get in that position. Poor clearance by Hand for the goal but those mistakes aren't punished at FD level that's the difference. Really enjoyable game, great Pat's crowd but not a peep from them which was surprising
Wee spot of bias there I think - was at the match as a neutral and Hand's red card was the simplest sending off I have seen this year.
Not at all, I'll have to look again but for me it's two players whose momentum carries them into one another.
Haven't seen a replay of any of the incidents to be honest but in real time my reading of the Hand one was that it was a 50/50 ball with 2 lads going full blooded for it and Curtis got there before Hand. Didn't think it was malicious or any intent to do Curtis in it and certainly didn't think there was an elbow involved but maybe the highlights will prove me wrong. No complaints about the Brady one.
We played well in general and thought we deserved our equaliser when it came. However, our defending that led to the Pats penalty was completely shambolic. Hand switched off from the ball down the channel and didn't realise the Pats player was behind him. Then Walsh trying to take a touch and play football in the box was a recipe for disaster. Should have just cleared his lines first time and get reset.
Incredibly frustrating to give the lead back to Pats immediately after scoring. Would have been nice to have a rattle at them in the last 10 mins at 1-1 because I thought we were well on top for the 10 mins or so before we did score. Obviously Pats were well below their best throughout but that's what we needed to happen to have a chance. A good performance from us and hopefully we can continue that level to the end of the season.
A fairly drab game at the Brandywell yesterday, with two late goals putting a gloss on the scoreline.
Fairly impressed with Athlone's defending, they didn't make it easy. Did virtually nothing going forward however, and never looked like scoring.
Lovely goal from Duffy at the end, with a great pass from P McEleney.
An almost pre-season feel to the match, but sandwiched between two ECL matches, it'll do rightly.
