They're only outside the playoffs now on goal difference from Brighton, and Reading have to overcome the awesome power of the doc('s team mates) on Monday.
13th goal of the season today. It's looking like his goals over the last few weeks could make the difference in Ipswich grabbing a Playoff place. Who needs McGoldrick?

New contract for Murphy.
2 in 2 games for Murphy. Supposedly his goal was brilliant. His partnership with McGoldrick is certainly developing.

Cracker by Murphy.
Chronic goalkeing though, no?
Good effort on goal alright.
It was a nice effort but you'd have to blame the goalkeeper for that going in. Even if it was in an awkward position for the goalkeeper and with a bit of pace, it was a poor effort. Still, credit to Murphy for the technique and you don't get the luck unless you steer it on target to begin with.
That was awful. If the keeper had set himself up right it would have just bounced into his chest and looked like a pretty tame effort.
I only caught the last 20 mins on TV last night. Ipswich had started retreating by that time but up until then had been the better team. Commentators said that they'd have been more than 2 up if McGoldrick and Murphy in particular hadn't been wasteful.
He looks in good shape though, fit and mobile.
That's a speculative effort. I'd say he was as surprised as any that the keeper didn't gather it
Folding my way into the big money!!!
Murphy with a brace as Ipswich lead Forest 2-1. If Ipswich hold on, they end Forest's unbeaten record and go level on top.
His first goal was a "goal of the season" contender and a "cracker" according to the natives on their forum.
Definitely ahead of Cox & Sammon now...4th best striker now?
Probably only behind Long and Keane in fairness. Much on a par with Doyle, Walters, Stokes.....
Should probably try and fit in as many of those strikers against Gibraltar as possible.
Maybe Long & Doyle up front together - they worked well together against similar opposition in the past. Stokes playing off them to see if he can become an option for that role - where he does a decent job for Celtic. McGeady & McClean on the wings. Gibson with the other up field role. Theoretically there is at least 3 or 4 goals in that team with McGeady & McClean filling their Intl. goalscoring boots lately allied with Doyle's Intl. form, Long and hopefully Stokes.
Looks like Meyler could play RB against Germany so give Gibson the midfield start so he can start with one or two of Whelan and/or Hoolahan against Germany. No need to start Keane in this game.
Would like to see Hendrick given a chance to start in Germany but I doubt it will happen. Whelan, Gibson at the base and McGeady, Hendrick and McClean/Pilkington supporting Long sounds good.
Martin O'Neill says he seems to have found a bit of extra pace! Ok, self praise is no praise, I know.
Papers seem to be suggesting he's played himself into contention for a start, and I'd be quite happy with that - as long as he's not seen as some kind of hybrid left corner forward. He says himself his good form is down to playing centrally.
Credit too to TOWK who has been positive for a while on Murphy. I freely admit that not long ago he was one I wasn't bothered about. In the squad, fine. Not in the squad, no big deal either. Not any more. I'm glad O'Neill has been watching him and has been taking note of his form.

Another for Murphy, joint third scorer in the league now with 7.
9th and 10th goals of the season for Murph tonight.
Great stuff. I'm surprised he looked so flat against Gibraltar.
Wouldn't take much notice of that really. It's easy to say a guy should be chomping at the bit and all that, but the game had lost the small bit of intensity it had, so it was difficult. Even Hendrick looked far better against Germany than he did against Gibraltar. It would be interesting to see Murphy in more demanding circumstances.
