Thanks Robbie. Is this Johnson guy in the first team?
Quality match last night, end to end stuff, some really good football with some good goals. From an Irish perspective it was also a good night. Garvan only played the first half but it is easy to see why he is being talked about. Now I don't want to curse the feller because I know some people said the same thing about McPhail but he looks like he has been watching a lot of liam Brady. He has a very good left foot and plays in a very laid back way, he even runs a little like him, long strides. I don't think I saw him put 1 pass astray last night, his passing was that good, he kept things simple and for a lad of 17 making only his 2nd start he looked like he had been out there for years. IF he fulfils his potential I have know doubt he will be a star in the Ireland team. Don't know why he didn't play the second half, they brought on Horlock for him, who did nothing but get booked.
Rowlands was brilliant last night. He played wide on the left because of injuries and was back to the form that got him the call up to the Ireland team. Taking on players all night, did try to beat 1 to many when he should of had a shot. Scored the winner, stealing in at the back post, volleying into the bottom corner. Ran himself into the ground and made a fool of the Ipswich sub Peters, must have beat him six times at the corner flag.
Northern Ireland international Tommy Docherty won man of the match, a poor mans Roy Keane. If Rowlands keeps his form up he will might get another call up.
Also in the programme it said that our young centre back Ryan Johnson has been called up for Ireland U19s, so that's another Irish player in the championship.
The Rs are going up!!!
Thanks Robbie. Is this Johnson guy in the first team?
No Johnson is in the youth/reserve team. He is a centre back who doesn't just lump it, so they will no doubt be trying to coach that out of him!! Well thought of by a lot of QPR fans who watch reserve youth, reserve games, never seen him play myself. The Ipswich sub keeper was Irish.
Shane Supple I presume. Looked really good in the FA Youth Cup Final but doesn't look particularly big.Originally Posted by robbie_B
That was him. No not the tallest. Their number 1 is small also, made some good stops, at least at Ipswich youngsters het a chance. I think they have a good few Irish and they don't have a very big squad.Originally Posted by Stuttgart88
Yeah, it was a good job from an Irish perspective that Ipswich didn't get promoted.

Yeah, I remember you said that alright Tets!
I think the sad fact of life these days is that hardly any Premiership clubs will give Irish youngsters a chance - experience is perceived as vital to avoid relegation. The Championship appears to be the main breeding ground for our teenage talent these days. Championship clubs must keep their wage bills low or sell their best players back to the Premiership.
Mick McCarthy is the obvious exception - good luck to him.
Supple is meant to be 6 foot. See link here:Originally Posted by Stuttgart88
