Very good point about Athlone Town Scrufil. Athlone were founder members of loi but didnt last too long. It was only in 1969 that they came back into LOI. Very easy thing to forget!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

I'd nearly argue the boycott is as good as over as I've met some previous ATFC die hards at Ireland games and they said the club is dead to them, no interest in it anymore which is sad to see.

No one likes a foul mouthed lout, as that is what the Chairman is. He ran loyal people out of the club for no other reason than to run his own fiefdom free from questions. Questions might reveal the truth, but then he threatened all and sundry with litigation.
As I often say, I am not wont to hang around with a certain ilk of criminal.
Sad but it is the world we live in.

Not sure it is that long, maybe late 2016 if I recall correctly. If that Ash was the lad that took the action photos at Athlone Town games, I know him, and he told me he was given grief by the Chairman, for just talking to the boycotters. Crazy stuff I know but there are many who are much more 'outspoken on the matter than me, and I am a terror when I get going. Main reason I don't post much here, I get too emotionally involved.
Only solution I'd ever imagined was if the club was sold lock stock and barrell to a very rich Athlone people consortium group, but then when one did emerge the Chairman refused to sell.
Only hope is an intervention by the FAI or that someone dies of natural cuases.
    No hope, really.

If that does get sorted do you think support would come back straight away?

Athlone is a large university town with great transport links to 2 of the largest cities in the country, but won’t reach its potential due to being run badly,a typical Irish football story….
