Cheers, still far far cheaper than a full OB.

No probs, its the way to go to be honest as with an extra couple of cameras it looks very professional and costs are exponentially lower than a full OB.
Unfortunately given RTE is run by the unions they would never be allowed "outsource" like this and deny the OB lads the Friday evening overtime.
If RTE had any imagination it could be a LOW LOW cost with pics form all grounds at half and full time.
Maybe Virgin will try it out and kick RTE out.
Downside for RTE is its peaktime Friday night but Virgin have a few channels that arent exactly big viewer numbers so it might make sense for them

Pretty sure the OBs are already outsourced by RTE to the likes of Nemeton or whatver they're called

Broadcasters like to build a story. The top 5 in the league from last year play in 40 league matches over the course of the season, chasing 4 European spots, one through the cup. With good scheduling, it is tailor-made for broadcasters. Broadcasters should follow it through by covering the League of Ireland clubs in the European qualifiers as well.

    A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.

Have been for donkeys years, there are no ‘OB lads’ in RTÉ. Nemeton, Observe, TVM among the main companies.

Fair enough didn't know that and felt there had to be some reason that they wouldn't take the cheaper option.

You'd have to assume Rovers v Derry on Monday 26th will be shown - has Bohs v Rovers on Friday 23rd been confirmed yet?
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

My first time watching an LOI game on RTE in a long time since I'm not living in Ireland.
Have to say I thought the actual production quality for Bohs and Pat's looked an awful lot better than I remember. 15 minutes of buildup vs 3 minutes I remember from years ago.

The full stadiums are a massive help to the spectacle also. I feel like a lot of the criticisms McBennett had on LOICentral last season are being answered in these Dublin derbies.

Only hope now is that the actual viewership numbers rise alongside the quality of the product.

  12. Thanks From:
