Did Andy Gray start out a Leeds a few years back, seen as the next big thing after a league cup final and then disappear almost completely? Clinton would have been a better signing. Hope he gets a run v Italy next week, put himself in shop window even.

He needs to play for his fitness too. He faded badly in Tel Aviv having been out of the Brum first team for a while. Kerr was very slow to take action.

I dunno, I'd say Birmingham would be looking for at least £2.5m personally. You don't buy many international players these days for £1m unless their Scottish of course

Don't laugh too much - some of their young forwards would have a good chance of getting in our squad: Maloney, Beattie, Riordan. McFadden. Not to mention Dickov & Duncan Disorderly.

Clinton linked with Charlton on eleven-a-side and Sunderland on sky sports.
Partnership with Elliott at Sunderland wouldn't be a bad move

Charlton would be a good move for him. Back in London and no one necessarily above him in the pecking order for selection (I'd say they'll offload Euell so he'll have to battle it out with Bartlett, Lisbie, Bent, Jeffers and Johansson).

Clinton going to Sunderland is not good for us at all, it only further pushes Elliot down the pecking order.

Duo in battle to sign up Morrison

Sunderland and Southampton are both hoping to sign Birmingham's Republic of Ireland striker Clinton Morrison. Saints officials have held preliminary discussions with the Blues about the 26-year-old frontman. Birmingham have dropped their asking price to £1.25m but Southampton are unlikely to go above £1m. Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy handed Morrison his international debut, and the striker revealed: "I've always said I would like to play for Mick again."

Elliott is pretty good. I expect him to break through into the first team this season for sunderland. I know there will be plenty of oppurtunities there in that relegation battle.

Hopefully clinton will sign for a team. he does need regular football.

According to the BBC Sport website just now Norwich have had a bid of £2m for Clinton accepted by Birmingham.

He'd form an excellent partnership with Dean Ashton. I dunno whether I want him working for Nigel Worthington though.

The clubs have agreed a fee but Clinton will have to agree personal terms. I think for 2 million a few more teams might be interested. I think if any club in the south who are heading in the right direction came in for him he would be off. Southampton agreed a fee with Notts Forest for Reid but he ended up at Spurs. He will score plenty of goals in the championship.

Birmingham have accepted Norwich's £2m bid for their Republic of Ireland international striker Clinton Morrison.
Sunderland and Southampton were both linked with Morrison but Blues boss Steve Bruce revealed they had agreed a fee with Championship side Norwich.

The 26-year-old forward has found himself down the pecking order at St Andrews and was keen for a move away.

Should Morrison complete a move it is likely to increase speculation over the future of Canaries star Dean Ashton.

Norwich are already well stocked up front with Ashton, Darren Huckerby and Leon McKenzie.

Wigan and West Ham have been strongly linked with a move for the highly-rated Ashton, but Norwich have insisted they are keen to hold on

better than no football i guess

Morrison signs for Norwich in £2m deal

18/08/2005: Norwich have agreed a £2million fee with Birmingham for striker Clinton Morrison.

The Republic of Ireland forward confirmed this week he expected to leave Blues before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, with "quite a few clubs showing an interest, both Premiership and Championship".

Southampton and Sunderland were also thought to be interested in the 26-year-old, although Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy admitted today any move for Morrison was unlikely.

The striker is currently trailing behind Emile Forssell, Walter Pandiani and Mikael Forssell in the list of front men at St Andrews but a move to Carrow Road could see him form a formidable partnership at Championship level with Dean Ashton.

Reports have suggested Wigan and West Ham are interested in signing Ashton but Canaries boss Nigel Worthington insisted today "there have been no approaches" for the highly-rated striker

They are both proven strikers at this level. But so is Huckerby, who scored barrel-loads for them the last time they were in the Championship, will he be dropped for Clinton?

sure i'd rather him starting in the premiership but first team football is first team football. we need him to be able to get through the entire 90 minutes.

This is short-term thinking, but there is no point in thinking about the long term if we don't do well enough in the short term to give us a reasonable chance of qualifiying.

I agree, he needs games, and we need him to have games.
