Prize money involves winning, so is irrelevent

Attention, prestige and crowds? Debatable, how much did Longford have v the Welsh side and Vaduz and would it really have been alot less against Malmo and Gent? I wouldnt day so.

Technially yes, although in 75/76 and 81/82, we got 2 points, in 72/73 and 78/79, we got 2.333 points and in 79/80 we got 2.666. However, rankings weren't done then - the Bert Kassies site has calculated ratings going back to the start, though. However, all rounds have been treated as full rounds (i.e. double points - in '79/80, we got two wins and four draws), so this year is potentially our best year ever for results in Europe (excluding the InterToto).

Can't see UEFA agreeing to the idea of Cup Winners to the InterToto (especially if it goes), so no point really discussing the notion, to be honest. Don't agree with it at all though - the development of all clubs and a generally strong league is far more important than trying to hand-pick our teams for a couple of European games.

you may be right on the first point, but I can't see how the development of Longford would have been halted by drawing Gent and Malmo instead of the teams they did draw.

If anything, they could have lost to Gent and would not have suffered what they have done since going out to the Welsh side, they would probably be in a slightly better condition as a result.

By the way, if CCFC do manage to beat Djurgardens at home who will they go on to play in the first round proper ? And are the co-efficents different for winning and drawing ? cheers

    Thumbs up

Lads. I'm just so delighted with tonights result. A little bit disappionted that we didn't hold on for the win, but I would of gladly taken this result before kick off. I can't wait for the 2nd leg. More importantly we have Shels on Monday which is going to be the biggest game of the season because its the next one. COME ON CITY!

    Oh sorry.

Here's the list, it's not finalised as neither the this round of the uefa cup or the third round of the champions league is finished so it could change alot.

And Cork have to get there first, job is by no means done yet.

    No easy tie there whatsoever.

thanks Slash for that. It could all go pear shape in two weeks time for the CCFC but if they make it through to the next round they have a massive game ahead of them. There are some real big clubs there

1 game at a time for City, its perfect to have 2 huge league games before the Swedes arrive.

Pity the all-seater rules as atmosphere was sh!te for last Uefa Cup game. No danger of crowd & players not being up for this one though.

I presume RTE will definitely show the game now.

Inspired decision by Rico to play Fenn.

I'd laugh if it was funny ...... We seriously have to do something about this television situation ..... my phone was hopping tonight and there was no real source of info (all the lads were busy chanting) ... If not being televised then at least have it on the radio.

Sooo soo bad .... its unreal, cant actually believe it is so shít !!?!?

The Djurgarden coach was reported in the media, as saying that when he heard his team drew Cork in this round, he assumed that they were a "typical British team".

Can somebody show me on the map where exactly Cork is, in Britain?????

Steaua were saying the same thing about Shelbourne. Obviously geography is only taught in IE and UK.

I have the Indo here and Gerry McDermott concludes his report with, "History however suggests that the odds are still against Cork as one has to go back to 1975 for the last time an Irish side beat Scandanavian opposition over two legs."

Where was he last summer when we beat Malmo home and away???

Was going to put 20 rags on the draw myself, until I saw your post, and joined you in the ban. I will put it down as a donation to City's fortunes, I think . . .
