Why do 99.9% of bands that sing in English put on that fcuking accent.
I heard james Blunts song and then I heard him speak.I just laughed my head off.He's not the only one.

James Blunt does not sound american
...but hes still s h i t e.But some people do sound american just not 99.9%.......maybe 60% or sometin. and you have to realise maybe thats just the way they sing and ppl like it so feck them anyway who cares. I wouldnt listen to crappy english bands anyway unless its Keane or any of the good ones

I see the problem you're referring to... Too much americanisms in music indeed. I always figured Morrissey was the only one that had a strong non-English accent, I'd even say he sings very British. Which is remarkable, as even singers with a strong British tongue, kinda take on a more neutral vow when they sing.
And James Blunt... well, let's just say he's not "it", but I prefer him anytime over that frog that got the nr 1 spot before him.
i dont agree with this at all , most sing in a nuetral accent not an american accent , loads of people speak like this it happens when words are pronounced properly , have you ever heard americans talk now the only songs that sound like that are country and western songs and they are singing in there own accents .
and anyway its there songs they cant sing them in what ever way they feel it should be sang .
If English is the language of Rock N Roll -then Americana is the dominant cultural reference.
I sing with a band myself and have taken jip aplenty (and some praise too in fairness) for sounding like I'm from Limerick -which would be of course down to the fact that -I'm from Limerick.
don't see why I should have to pretend I'm from somewhere else.
Always admired singers like Billy Bragg, Proclaimers, Kirsty McColl and Cerys Matthews and of course Morrissey who sound like they're from the neck of the woods they're actually from.
Curious that Paul Weller sounds like a roight Geezah on Jam songs but then on his solo stuff and especially Style Council stuff he lays on the the old motown americana quite heavily.
Always hated Hated HATED hearing white guys putting on Jamaican accents ala UB40 and some of Stings stuff.
Very patronising carry on.
Terry Hall and Suggs played in Ska/Reggae influenced bands too and they didn't do it.
