Fair, but I'd define him as more of a 10 than a central midfielder, which is why I left him out of the conversation. In the same way that Azaz is great, but he's not the solution to the issue being discussed here.

Two goals for him in the Scottish League Cup against Ayr - and two assists for Idowu.

Went down after heading a cross away, taken off ten minutes later (BBC Football, today). May be concussion, which would make him doubtful for Saturday.

Has there ever been a stronger Dublin accent than this?

Scottish people I've spoken to in Paisley really struggling to understand him.

He does seem to have mostly let go of the San Diego accent at this point alright.

Wins a Scottish League Cup medal in St. Mirren's win over Celtic. Scored four goals in the group stage. Roland Idowu was an unused sub - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/l...nwgt#St.Mirren

There was a nice article about him y'day in the Sunday Times which started off as an article asking could he save his Ireland career, painting him as the fall guy for the Armenia defeat (seemed harsh), before Paddy McCarthy comes to his defence along with his Buddie's boss Stephen Robinson.
If I question Liam Scales ability to play intl football, refer me to this signature & his peformance at home at lb vs Port on Nov 13 2025.

He came on after 70 minutes when we were already 2-1 down. Seems bizarre to try and lay the blame on him.

Anyway, he was excellent yesterday in an overall superb St Mirren performance, and has a well-deserved winner's medal.

St Mirren fans love him, and he is utterly reliable week in week out.

But he's mainly a defensive midfielder who hounds and blocks and tackles in a counterattacking team (though he'll attack when given the chance).

Not sure how much that role is needed for Ireland, or where he is in the pecking order for that role.

EDIT: This is a quote from him yesterday, though I can't find the source: "They’re buying players for 10 million and I was bought for a bag of crisps."

pretty harsh to blame him for the Armenia game. he probably should never have been in the squad and he didn't look up to it technically when he was on the pitch, but he wasn't particularly to blame.

i like a lot about him, he can score goals, he finds himself in the right place in the box. he drives well. he's aggressive in the tackle, real bite and he's a warrior. saying that, during his 100 minutes of senior international football, he's looked like technically he isn't good enough. his touch looks too heavy and it's a very unforgiving environment. he's only 23 and he's got the potential to develop into someone that is good enough, but honestly John Patrick did more in the 5 minutes he was on the pitch for Ireland that all the time Killian was there.
