Waterford are in Tralee on the June Bank Holiday Monday. 15 years after being knocked out of the League Cup!
They can hardly have been randomised and thrown up Treaty as the second home fixture to follow Cobh? Anyway, there'll be no excuses for early attendances even purely on match day sales.

Have FAI ever made a statement about the LSC or league cup at all? Its so weird whats going on!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Haven’t seen anything from the FAI on the league cup other than the original ‘postponed until further notice’ stuff. The LSC is nothing to do with the FAI though, it’s run by the Leinster FA and I believe this season's competition is underway already, LOI clubs usually join in the 4th round so it’s unclear if they are or aren’t still involved but we'll soon find out I guess but there’s no rush

lsc is surely back?! thought i read on twitter loi clubs were entering again in '23. a massive shame if they've killed off the league cup
Certainly doesn't appear to be any room for it in the calendar.
embarrassing stuff not having the LC cup back
The women's fixtures mentions a league cup and FAI cup dates specifically. The mens fixtures only mention FAI Cup. Looks like no league cup this year
In the First Division, the 3 rounds on a Monday are on Bank Holidays. Seems to be sensible scheduling.
The 4 teams in Europe will play against each other in Round 24 on Monday May 15th, between rounds 15 and 16. They will also play against each other in Round 25 on Monday June 26th, between rounds 21 and 22. Seems to be sensible enough scheduling as well to be fair.
The UEFA qualifying rounds in the summer and the start of the FAI Cup has the schedule from summer onwards full as it is. For the League Cup to return, clubs would have to see value in extra Monday night fixtures.
Feb 20
Mar 13
Apr 17
May 8
These are 4 Mondays that could suit the League Cup. Feb 20 because teams are not playing on the Monday before or after. On Mar 13, Apr 17 and May 8; Premier clubs will have played on the preceding Monday. First Division clubs on the preceding Monday of May 8. Clubs could utilise their squads when playing a League Cup round, in what is their second Monday is succession.
The League Cup currently would require at least 5 rounds. Clubs would probably want to be confident of crowds before adding extra Monday fixtures. The regional pools, as used previously, but up to and including the quarter-finals, could help boost crowds for the earlier rounds. The semi-finals and final would naturally attract crowds. Again, only something to be considered if clubs see a viable benefit from it.

I think the only way I can see the league cup returning is with a facelift and the first couple of round being pre season. If there was only 8 teams left by the beginning of the season it'd only mean an extra 7 fixtures that'd need to be accommodated.
Would mean that what would have been pre season games could have a bit more profile about them.
the regional clubs are normally gone after those regionalised rounds anyway so your point is moot. even at that , is that not why clubs enter competitions to get these big games against loi clubs? its like sacking off the intermediate cup because the price of a bus is gone up. the way its been brushed under the carpet is something else, the cup was valuable for a lot of younger lads minutes wise. those who are maybe doing well at 19s but would struggle in a league game. people are constantly on about the need to a third tier or clubs entering b teams in amateur leagues. and yet people seem happy to see the back of the one competition where these players can get vital minutes.
Yeah but its a very different environment financially for just about every club since the last time we had the league cup, transport, accommodation and just general match day expenses have sky rocketed in the last few years. Mid week game in the competition don't draw great crowds until at least 1/4 final stage or a derby game. Same expenses as a weekend games with about 1/3 of the gate receipts
Havn't seen many clubs at any level of the country call of the return of the league cup
