You still haven't explained this - just given some bizarre opinions about 2 players that most Clubs in Dublin would (still) welcome with open arms. Bruen? never a niggler or a wind-up merchant, on or off the ball. Flynn? no more or no less a whinger than any other good competitive midfielder.

By past glories do you mean winning Premier A and the Leinster Junior Cup last Season? Or making it to the last 8 this Season? A lot of Clubs with be very happy with that kind of "past" glory.

And for the record I would rate Newlands Celtic, Oatfield and Moyle Park as better teams than Neilstown (Never said Junior Teams) in Clondalkin right now. Seen them all in action this season and would fancy any of them to beat Neilstown.
If you really consider Oatfield and Newlands Celtic to be better sides than Neilstown then I fear for any other opinions you may have.

Newlands are a very local group of lads whom I've known since most were kids. They are a good Div 1 side nothing more nothing less. However, they are certainly not in the same bracket as Rangers. Maybe Ports underestimated them in the recent cup game where you were lucky to win 2-1.

I agree Moyle park would be a better team/club but then again they are an Intermediate outfit so in all fairness should be. Oatfield are not even at the races as far as I am concerned. St Francis would be well ahead of them in terms of talent and potential and I would not count them in the top five Clondalkin sides.

I have no affiliation with any club so my opinions are not tainted by allegience to a club I may support.

Well soccerc, I'll bow to your superior local knowledge.
My opinion is based on what I've seen of those Clondalkin Clubs this season, and the years I've watched Neilstown try to re-capture the real past glories (FAI Junior Cup Winners back in the early 90's if I'm right?).

As an ex-Porto Player of course I'm biased, but history will be the Judge.

You still haven't explained your earlier comments though .......

So have you any more examples? And what games have you seen to base your opinion on? Seems like a lazy opinion to me.
they are alot of equally good players as barry flynn if gerry smith

Maybe there are players as good, but Flynn's done it year in and year out for 10 years plus.

4 Junior Cups, 60+ caps, buckets of leagues and cups in Limerick and Dublin.

Attitude, Application and Experience counts as well you know.

Well said, it seems that this Irish junior set up is all a click. You have to know people to get in there. There should be trials for each province at least every two years. Whilst i am not saying that whoever is already on the team isnt a good player, i think there is players as good if not better to be found around the country that should not be denied the oppertunity to represtent their country due to the woefull way the Irish junior setup is run!

I Agree renovater, Mayo have had just three international Junior players since 1980. Fergie Mcellin, Fergal Forde and Joe Lawless. Not forgetting Danny Schaill who played for the National league under 21 side. I am not sure about Dessie O'Malley.
My point is (and this is aimed at Mayo ppl especially) who do YOU think should get a run? Even in Galway there is the likes of Johnny Mernagh who is banging them in for Athenry. Let me know.

At last someone else see's the light O'Malley & Lawless didnt play international cap but your point is taken. The Mernagh should be getting his chance.
What should be happening Mr smyth should be calling for Regional Camps and picking players from all over the country. But instead he rather not cross the pale
unless it's a junior final played in Connaught.
When you think that Westport were F.A.I. Junior Champions How none of there players have been given the call up.
I'm afraid as history would have it "To hell or to Connaught"
    one wonders
