Hogan Park Raided by Thieves & Vandals

Page 54 of todays Star runs a story on how Hogan Park was raided on THREE successive nights last week. In the region of €20,000 worth of merchandise was stolen. This is a sad throwback to the activities of vandals up around Rathbane in the nineties.

Sh1t. I thought from the heading that this was going to be another attack on the board.

What is the point of robbing merchandise from Limerick FC - hardly easy to sell on is it? Obviously thick as sh1t and wastes of space to boot.

Need proper security fast, I've been saying it all season. For cripes sake our clubhouse was burned down the last time we were there and I can assure you the area hasn't undergone any massive urban regeneration projects since

Surely it'll be easy to find them as they'll all be wearing shiney Limerick tracksuits?

Any ideas on how to attempt to raise this money back for the club??
We were thinking of trying to organise a Limerick5000 anyway... hugely adventurous I know but if the Lims keep climbing up that table and a huge push by the SC as well as Hogan Park regulars, u never know... if we even got an extra 1000 on top of our best gate this season it would be fairly impressive... any thoughts???

He does. But moderators aren't the only ones entitled to opinions.

Great idea. Unfortunately the fixture list is not kind to you - the Dublin City games will be a big one - but might be too soon to organise anything (?). Galway is next but because of FAI Cup in between won't be on until Sept 9. Maybe link with Galway United SC to get them to organise a version of Galway 1000 - could be a good link-up.

I'd be happy to help any way I can.

Lads I don't know if this is of any help but I heard before that there are grants available for CCTV in an attempt to curb anti-social behaviour, it may be worthwhile contacting the Dept of Sports and Tourism? for info if this is true.

How about the home game against Cobh on Sept.23rd, at least it will allow some time to organise it.

So now we know why the club left Rathbane/Hogan Park in the first place don't we?

Security is going to have to be upgraded there even though it'll mean more money. Otherwise the same thing will just keep on happening...

Why in gods name would anybody want to steal Limerick FC gear? The club isn't exactly to the forefront of everybodys mind in Limerick, it's rare enough that you see the gear around the place, how are they going to shift it? Probably see a load of complete scumbags, with bum-fluff 'tash's walking around town decked out in LFC gear next week, only time they ever set foot in Rathbane was to rob the place....

The merchandise was insured I take it? If so, just a minor blip. If not, up s**t creek and then some

Exactly what? I expressed an opinion on what you said. Your post wasn't an opinion - it was an innuendo (and very thinly veiled at that). I don't have a problem with you saying it - fine with me - but if I think it was out of order I''ll say so. We can just agree to disagree.
