Few people might need to pull up their pants before the tide goes out. Got caught out badly.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
Hi guys I am not using it to defend Kenny’s selectio jjust pounting out that it looks like there will be more changes than actually speculated he is the only one I know for sure so is the only one I named.
I agree on the need for more game time for younger/newer faces in this game (and against Norway)
Malta 1-0 is to be got at 16/1 for anyone who might be in need of a silver lining contingency plan in the coming hours.
Five changes so - Kelleher, Ogbene, McClean, McGrath and Coleman in; Bazunu, O'Dowda, Obafemi, O'Shea and Molumby out
No Hendrick, but McGrath the only experiment really. And I thought O'Dowda was one of the few lively players on Thursday tbh
Could have been worse, could have been better I think.
Let's see how things go
Doesn't exactly scream experiment or blooding new players that XI. Cant understand not starting Smallbone or Ferguson.
Needs a win I guess
Pointless picking that team for a friendly against a part time team. As I said earlier, if he doesn't even feel he has the wiggle room to experiment with a couple of younger players in a fixture like this, he'd be as well being moved on this side of Christmas, rather than delaying the inevitable into next year.
Could easily believe we'll see him bouncing down the touchline in celebration of a 93rd minute John Egan face saving goal before the night is out.
Disappointed Ferguson not starting to help him develop. Probably won’t bother watching it until he comes on. Smallbone hasn’t impressed me in senior football so not too bothered with him not starting. Depressing team. These reported green shoots need to start blooming soon.
One outfield player under 25 in that line-up, and Coleman and McClean starting. Against a team ranked 168 in the world. Kenny's obviously terrified of losing this one.
What exactly is the point in this exercise?
There's a whiff of desperation and cluelessness about Kenny's selections now. Is McGrath the missing ingredient that will turn a disappointing Nations League campaign into a successful Euros?
Nope - but I don't think Smallbone or Sykes or Ferguson are either.
But you think back to the early Mick days when he'd throw in the likes of Savage, Moore, Breen, Duff, O'Neill, Fleming - some would sink and some would swim, but at least they'd be blooded and would be less new if thrown in for a real game.
Of course, none of those I think were as new as Ferguson or Smallbone. We're in a tricky position where I don't rate the manager, but the squad is just terrible and the players aren't coming through as quickly as we'd have liked (look at Obafemi struggling to reproduce his Jan-May form for example).
God help us if we don't have any wing-backs in a couple of years though when Coleman/Doherty/McClean/Stevens/Brady are retiring.
