    2023 wnl

The FAI confirms that next year's competition will expand to 11 teams, with Galway United replacing Galway WFC, and the widely-flagged arrival of Shamrock Rovers. Interesting that Cobh and Harps join the U19s, which makes them the next likeliest senior candidates:

The shamrock rovers addition to the league will be interesting. Hoping they don't take our waves goal keeper eve badana or our two best strikers kate mooney and katie malone. If they're paying wages it'll be a big appeal for players, and I do think the players should be paid in the league, but it might squeeze out the smaller womens clubs like waves or peamount in the beginning. Collie O'Neil is a good choice of coach.

Anyone heard any WNL transfer rumours? In respect to team changes, the dlr waves u19 manager is now the senior team assistant manager. Also the treaty manager resigned.

Abbie larkin leaving shels. Looks like rovers but not announced yet. Another case of a player signing for one team then being poached by another team. Happening a lot.

    Week 1 Results:
    Shelbourne 6-0 Cork City
    Sligo Rovers 2-2 Shamrock Rovers
    Treaty United 0-1 Bohemians
    Galway United 0-1 Wexford Youths
    Athlone Town L-L Peamount United

The champions laying down a marker for the new season, before an attendance of 333 (the only such figure confirmed so far). Shamrock Rovers will evidently be a work in progress, while Treaty already seem improved on the side that only managed two draws over the whole of 2022, often shipping several goals per week in the process.

Shels looked very good at times beating Bohs 2-0 yesterday in tough conditions. Went out of the game for 20/25 minutes at the start of the second half but Bohs never looked like scoring and Shels should have had a couple more by the end.

Cobh have been very poor in the u19 league, they drew their first game but suffered a number of heavy defeats. Harps have performed better.

Hopefully Cobh aren't discouraged - possibly a lot of players are underage.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
