If Fenlon is in id say there will be a few wings clipped and bohs "definition" of success will be back to winning matches rather than furthering social justice for the Comisariat.

Pity really but it was only a question of time i suppose
    One can only hope…

That background nonsense as you call it , has connected the club successfully to our local area like never before, the solid social work with mounjoy prison, direct provision trips to game(which btw rovers also successfully do), a yearly supply of a gift at Christmas to children in direct provision centres, local coaching and youth coaching clinics , nights out in the bars here for local oap’s , Irish language and music and literary events etc etc , has grown our fan base from just about 1100 with 350 members to a point where we have over 2500 members and season tickets with a waiting list of nearly 1000, plus more enquiries.
Yes we have slowly built on the playing side, but we will not go broke chasing trophies again they will happen or not within an affordable budget.
Last time I try to stand up for Bohs then..

So is nutsy goin to bohs then?
Id guess you'd say he was relatively successful at Linfield (their exit from Europe was a comedy highlight of the year) but a cynic would say he was pushing an open door up there with their unique position in the Irish League.
He's a competent, knowledgeable football guy anyway. Would it have been better offering the DOF position to Keith long tho, or was a clean break needed.
If I was a bohs fan(heaven forbid!) I wouldn't be dusting down me passport just yet, with decky devine in charge, but clearly a change of manager was needed.
The off field stuff at dalymount is commendable and shows that bohs are trying to build a club instead of just a team, but the league is moving on and bohs will need to act relatively quickly to avoid being left behind. The avocado eaters won't stay forever if there is nothing cheery to watch.

Their boy is now back in charge at LH, so that pays for Rogers' Four Year contract and Exotic foreign signings through the Tallaght Fund.

Exactly this myth that the community work, which players and manager are only involved in for standard meet & greets or underage/community training session that every club in the league does, is a distraction is just nonsense. You know what the real distractions for a team are? Not knowing who the captain will be from game to game, freezing out players who will leave at the end of the season in spite of them still having plenty to offer, calling fans with valid grievences a vocal minority, signing almost an entire team of players in the July window and then not using them in favour of players who had already proven they weren't up to it. Signing players on loan or permanently and giving them no opportunity to play before ending their association with the club. All of these things happened on the football side and were the result of football people. I understand not everyone will agree with all of the community work Bohs are doing and that's their right but to believe that it's the community work that is negatively impacting the football work while the football people were creating an environment with no accountability or leadership is ludicrous.

Devine wasn't my first choice for manager but he certainly understands the value of leadership and accountability from what he's been saying and importantly doing in the transfer market. This is something that Fenlon also understands so hopefully the 2 working together will mean that the football side of things will begin generating as many positive headlines for Bohs as the community side of things.

Whatever about Irish lads trying to make it in England, Scotland just seems to be a total disaster. From speaking to some players who've gone across there's definitely an outdated snobbery towards LOI in Scotland when Sligo Rovers showed Motherwell exactly why such attitudes should no longer exist.

I would still love to know where their snobbery comes from. You’d almost think they’ve actually achieved something in football.

Comes from their two massive clubs in Glasgow, who can attract 50k for ****e games that they’ll win by 4-5 goals.
Plus clubs like Aberdeen Dundee Utd hearts and hibs who have a large( 8-10k ) following for big games. Decent stadia also throughout the league, and tv rights plus sell on values for small clubs we could not even dream about. In short, they have an FA that actively support and encourage and promote their sides and league. Basically, they have less barstool fans and properly promote their league and help to improve facilities and match day experience.

Well, they beat a side in pre-season 3-0, who immediately (and rightly) sacked their manager.

LoI hasn't done great in the Tunnocks Cup thingy against lower league Scottish sides in fairness.

The SPL isn't a great league and there may well be snobbery towards the LoI in it. But it's still a better league than here and it's not great if guys like Kenny are on their way home from it so soon

They lost 3-0 to a LOI side despite all the smack being talk about in the build up, I would be keeping my head well and truly down and my mouth shut if I was an SPL fan after that showing.

What thingy? I haven’t even heard of that competition but if that’s being given as some sort of excuse in the SPL favor then the term “clutching at straws” comes to mind.

No it’s not and after results like above I wouldn’t even consider being snobby in fact maybe learning a-bit of humility would be in order as these sides wouldn’t be giving fans loads of ammo to shoot back at them. I mean when you are describing Sligo as “Irish minnows” in the build up to a match and then go out and deservedly lose 3-0 over 2 legs then you really can’t have any complaints when the opposition fans fire ammo back.

Oh yeah it is better, just make sure they dont have to prove it on the field. And no it’s further evidence why Scottish u21 players stay well clear of Celtic, that and Lawal being linked to Brentford maybe it’s a sign that the message about Celtic’s appalling record of youth development is starting to hit home with Irish players and in future when the Celtic rumours come to light Irish players will look elsewhere like their Scottish counterparts do.

Hmm. So you've never heard of the competition but you've still got a really strong view on its merits?

Sounds like a proper debate would be lost in you so.

Coming from the guy who called it a “thingy” lol.

Oh and btw in regards to this competition . *whisper* I dont caaaare, iiiiii don’t caaaare *whisper*

Also if this is your response there isn’t a debate to be had as you seem more interested in clutching at straws.

I mean the Tunnocks Cup….come oooooon that’s poor even by your standards, now I know you’re a Celtic fan.

Go sit in the corner over there, time out.

*EDIT* just found out about the cup and wow, you really do need a time out, that’s the most embarrassing defense I’ve seen for a long time on here. *EDIT*

Yep, losing to third tier Scottish sides is fairly embarrassing alright. But the LoI has done it regularly. And Sligo even lost to an U21 side.

No surprise again though that your post is purely attacking the poster and ignoring the post

Pin…Motherwell lost 3-0 to Sligo 6 months ago while you’re you are using essentially an u21 competition from 3 years ago to prove your point. Get on your bike please.

You are just show how biased you are in one direction now when you must resort to these depths to make a point.

On this occasion it’s deserved, I would be embarrassed if I was you after the last few posts. Like I said go stand over there please until you actually come up with a point that makes sense or just take my advise and walk away.

not a big enough sample size of loi vs first team spl sides to come to any meaningful conclusion. i mean cork city beat hacken in 2016 over 2 legs, nobody has ever said loi is better than sweden premier division after that result... maybe look at all those good/very good loi players who havent made it over there.its either every club scouting poorly or just that players arent good enough...
