2023 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship qualification Round 2 Group A5
U17s won 3-2, which is a big result going in to the final qualifier against Northern Ireland on Thursday
As long as we avoid defeat against the North, who lost 3-0 to Austria today, we'll go into League A in Round 2 of qualifying next year.
Goals are at 22:04, 39:00, and 48:05 in the YouTube video above
Second goal was spectacular, see below.
Ireland won 1-0, and Finland beat Austria 1-0, meaning all three sides finish level on 6 points
Each side beat Northern Ireland, and won and lost one game to each of the other two
To break the tie between the teams:
Removing the results against the North meant each team finished on 3 points with one win, and a goal difference of zero
Ireland lost 1-0 to Austria (-1) and beat Finland 3-2 (+1)
Austria beat Ireland 1-0 (+1) and lost 1-0 to Finland (-1)
Finland lost 3-2 to Ireland (-1) and beat Austria 1-0 (+1)
Goals scored in ties between the three teams are then used to break the tie,
Ireland scored 3(0 v Austria, 3 v Finland)
Finland scored 3(2 v Ireland, 1 v Austria)
Austria scored 1(1 v Ireland, 0 v Finland), so Austria finish third on goals scored
With Ireland and Finland level on 3 points, with a goal difference of zero, and scoring three goals, Ireland top the group based on the 3-2 win against Finland!

France finished second in Group A4 - Losing to Switzerland, then beating Italy and IcelandLeague A
Group A1: Czechia, Poland, Estonia (finals hosts), Romania
Group A2: England, Norway, Belgium, Croatia,
Group A3: Germany (holders), Portugal, Hungary, North Macedonia
Group A4: Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia
Group A5: Republic of Ireland, France, Italy, Kosovo
Group A6: Spain, Denmark, Serbia, Belarus
Group A7: Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Wales
Italy finished third in Group A4* - Drawing with Iceland, then losing to France and Switzerland**
Kosovo finished in Group B2 - Beating Moldova, losing to Macedonia, then bearing Albania in their final game
* strange that two teams who faced each other in the first round are drawn against each other in the second round
** Italy finished third with only one point in that group, Iceland finished fourth with one point but a worse goal difference, -4 v -3
Ireland a goal ahead at half-time against Italy through Jess Fitzgerald of Peamount. Can't find a stream of it anywhere. A booking apiece according to the UEFA website.
Finished 1-0 to Ireland. Great result! Well done to all.
The FAI linked to a YouTube stream on their Twitter account. Goal is at 1:06:00 below.
A long, long range free kick that the Italian goalkeeper comes to claim, completely misses the ball and it bounces harmlessly into the goal!

Ireland a goal down to France at the first water-break with the hosts well on top. Looks like being a long day. Katie Keane, the Irish keeper, got a bad blow to the head about the quarter-hour mark and had to go off.
Another spectacular goal to equalise, Aoife Turner with a cross from just inside the far side of the French penalty area, close to the byline, that clipped the inside of the post on the opposite side of the goal, and went in!
The girls in green (well, orange today) need to win to qualify, with France having a superior goal difference
