If the story is true (and that's a very big if) we don't know the circumstances as to why Connolly ended up paying the bill.

He 100% asked people to pay in the morning into the players group chat on WhatsApp. First ?you all owe me at least ?500 per head?, followed by a selfie looking hungover and depressed. Then someone replied ?nice knowing you Aaron?, then no one replied. Then an hour later - he sent another message saying ?you all owe me at least ?250 per head? followed by another hungover selfie?

I saw the messages directly, not a screenshot or anything - but maybe it should be taken down?

For the majority of the lads, it?s the last time they?ll ever play for Ireland and might be the last time they?ll see each other - don?t think there?s anything wrong with them having a big night out after the campaign, even if it ended awfully.

Anyway - it is what it is. No idea what led to him paying the bill, to what extent it was him just wasting cash (like the champagne stuff in Ibiza) thing vs him paying for the group? I just think it?s not the best sign considering all the issues he?s had in recent years

Maybe he paid up being the big shot, then next morning his missus gave him grief for spending so much and he tried to claw it back.
