Italy - Cyprus is on at the same time, which is a little odd for a games that are not the final round of fixtures
    Italy currently leading 1-0

Mason Melia gets his hat trick. Still only 15 so underage again next season for the 17s.

not ideal considering Grante was injured in the warm up before the italy game. italy currently winning 2-1, so decent chance we could win the group

Ireland beat Ukraine 3-0 and Italy beat Cyprus 2-1

That more or less qualifies us for the u17 Euros just as long as we get a point versus Cyprus.

Was looking back and saw I posted this during the victory shield:

We were the better side in the second half. First half was pretty end to end, Wales’ Tyler Myles was causing us all kinds of problems. But in the second half, we had about 5 chances to win it which we should have taken.

From an irish perspective, Ike Orazi was excellent. He’s raw but he’s very physically mature. He just went passed players with ease, was too fast and too strong. Serious potential, hard to tell at that age, how much is due to him being an early developer but really really exciting nonetheless.

Niall McAndrew was another one who is physically so advanced. Reminded me of Killian Phillips or Declan Rice playing underage.

Mason Melia missed an absolute sitter from a yard out but he did really well to get there, good movement and instincts. Held up the ball well throughout.

Joe Collins saved two excellent penalties. Didn’t have a lot to do in the game. Wind was hard to deal with, might have been a factor in the second goal. Not the tallest but he’s probably still growing

Kaylem Harnett was also pretty impressive. Voto, Murray and Moore all had their moments.

Interesting to see how we do against the north
Kinda impressed that the 5 lads i highlighted from that squad all made the jump up an age group and the 6th lad was one of the 3 i also mentioned.

I think we can't finish lower than second now.
Assuming a win in the final game on Monday, Italy would need to beat Ukraine by two goals more than we beat Cyprus to top the group.

If we were to lose badly to Cyprus and Ukraine win we could finish 3rd theoretically.

If we come 2nd then we will have 4 points when it comes to qualification and a GD of 3 which based on the last 2 u17 euros would rank us as the best runner up, we only have to finish in the top 7 of 8 to qualify as a runner up, even if we don’t finish as the best runner up we should more than enough to qualify as a runner up should we get a point versus Cyprus. Granted we should be aiming to win judging by how the group has gone so far!

We should only be thinking about winning the group from here. Great win today by the sounds of it.

Kone-Doherty not in the squad at all, might not be recovered fully from the injury he's carrying

Just bounced one off the bar from about 22 yds and then butchered a subsequent 1v1 and 3v2.
    0-0 22mins gone.

Butchered another incredible chance in front of goal on 30 mins after great play to create the chance. Not sure I've seen an Irish side this fluid before at this age-group (yes, Including that side).

Edit. Another one missed. this side is awesome. cyprus less so

Cyprus twice dangerous through the middle and very close to an opening chance. Ireland need to be patient. A goal will come.
