    Carmarthen to seek prisoner release

    July 28, 2005

Welsh Cup winners Carmarthen Town will again seek the release of jailed football thug Craig Hughes today (Thursday) for this evening’s Uefa Cup first qualifying round second leg clash with FAI Carlsberg Cup holders Longford Town at Newtown AFC’s Latham Park ground.

Cardiff City fan Hughes is serving a three-year sentence for his part in football violence involving West Ham United supporters at Ninian Park in 2003.

Carmarthen failed in their initial attempt to have him handed a temporary release earlier this week, but they will make a last-ditch attempt again today.

The club’s manager Mark Jones said: “He is 99 per cent certain to be playing. He is a good player and with him in the side we’ve every chance of beating Longford.”

Longford manager Alan Matthews, on the other hand, feels that he will be unable to make an impression on the Town defence.

He said: “I think if he does get out and play, our skipper Barry Ferguson will be fairly quick about telling him he should have stayed where he was.

“I’m not sure how fit you could be after spending a lot of time in the nick. He could be doing plenty weights but he won’t have done much training.”

Seriously this man gets funnier and funnier what is he on!!!???

got to admit, Barry takes no prisioners at times. You seem to have it against him but the fact is we have three of the best 7 central defenders in the league and barry isn't even our 2nd best centre back. How about three at the back?

Dont like that at all. Sorry. 4-4-2 is the only way for me.

2 problems with the midfield do
    1)Crawleys a left back
    2)He doesnt play for us
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

    IMO the team should be
    Digger
    Spud Dillo Paiso Prunty
Kirbs Deano Davy Byrne Alan Cawley
    Barrett Myler

With Spud as good as gone that screws it up a bit but at least when he was in the side he got forward at every chance. If Alan can get Myler to work harder Barrett could play off him.I know Danny O' Connor and Barry aren't in the side but i just think that this side has a soild look about it aswell as good attacking players and with a bench consisting of Baker,Keego,Barry,Danny,Martin and Cronin we are not stuck if changes are needed and now with our new signings we should be pushing Bohs and Drogs at least.Hopefully things can be sorted with Spud and we can put the Whole Wales experience behind us and move on.
