Ah yes. Totally forgot the transfer window clash. It's one thing that definitely doesn't work in the league's favour in terms of the calendar season. It makes it very awkward with loans from any other league running on the more traditional season. Might still be attractive to a few free agents, same would apply to Pat's if they can get through the playoff round (Aaron Connolly might fancy linking up with Stephen Kenny for a few months to out himself back in the shop window etc.).

It's certainly something that could be looked at shifting a few weeks later if the season ever ends up getting extended by a couple of weeks. Something I'd largely be in favour of anyway so there was less Monday matches, and probably would give a bit more wiggle room for postponements around Europe.

Cyrus Christie, Scott Hogan, Jeff Hendrick, Harry Arter, Ciaran Clark, Darren Randolph, Keiren Westwood...there's a few options for lads who might like a crack at 5 months of European football.

All would be good signings. Id actually love to see how Hendrick looks considering how poor hes been in recent years, but all those have one thing in common, they are at the end of their careers. Vastly different to Mandroiu who should still be an ascending player in his prime who is looking to kick on and better himself.

From a marketing point of view it would be great to see fellas who have been regular Ireland players play out their final few years in the LOI. It would increase the interest, if they took it seriously. Duff is a great example of a high profile guy and what he can bring, even if its slightly different and hes not playing.
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Duff was a disaster as a LOI player. Not the best example. He was woeful.

Damien Delaney another who was woeful when he returned. Daryl Murphy barely played 8 or 9 games over a season and a half at Waterford.

All for players returning to the league, but only if they have something to offer.

I was thinking about Duff as a manager and the profile that hes brought, I'd forgotten that he actually played to be honest!
